Welcome Matey............ for a track car i would use a JA as they are so similar its not funny. JA parts are easier to get, Just bolt the JB looking bits on that you like.

I have a 1985 Starion JB sitting and waiting for a NEW owner. Just been serviced and has some extra`s.

It still has the factory rims and interior, but has the later JD intercooler, a boost controller and a BOV!!! Also has non factory boost gauge and tacho, plus white tacho faces which you can purchase off here. Has had engine/turbo reco about 25,000kms ago. Running 10 psi at the moment but could certainly go further.

Great car to drive and goes great.......

Pics on request

Cheers Cam :beer

I think you`ll find the JB is the most powerful from the factory.......mine is the JB but has the JD factory intercooler. Which of course would increase the power output again.

the JA is the most powerful out of the factory and does not require a cat converter ;)

JB does not require a cat converter either.

JA and JB both had the same power output from the factory, however JB was supposed to be the most powerful because of the new injection system it used.

JB prefrence

Post by dutchie »

hey thanks for the replies, i'll b in Vic 20-21/8 for the footy and won,t be able to get Tas un4tun8ly, maybe a later date if your not in a hurry to sell - one of the reasons why i want a JB was mainly due to std LSD and supposedly better injectors - is this right or do i have models arse about :saywha

JB's had an LSD option, they dont all have LSD. They do have bigger injectors though, but if you are going for multipoint (4 injectors) anyway then it wont really matter.

definately, if you're using it for the track you'll probably go to l300 or sonata manifold mpi, either way both ja and b type injection are old technology. the JD had a lower output because it went to unleaded and had a cat correct? again for track you just need a straight thru exhaust, i say go for one that already has a lsd and some mods you were planning to do anyway.

Sorry did i forget to mention it has the LSD and a 2.5inch straight through exhaust to a 5 inch muffler. No cat converter. It sounds nice and makes a difference to the performance, anyways i`m in the process of getting pics for you and should have them, whether has been a prick and if i wash the car it just rains again, even when the cover comes off it......anyways next couple of days, cheers :beer
