Hello Guys.

First of all will like to make this the point of attention.
The Deadline for payments will be October 31st

Allright now that I made that CLEAR....On with the post.
I am organizing a Group Buy on Coil Overs for the Starion. Front and Rear sets With Springs. I will be the AU and NZ contact for the Group Buy. So ask all the questions you may have about them to me.

Bellow is a LINK to a webpage were all the info on install, and instructions for these kits. NOTE: These are NOT Noltec, or Ground Control. If they were they will NOT be this inexpensive.

http://www.antimpower.com/misc/coiloverguide.htm

The choices of Springs that come with the kit are as follows:
(10kg/mm=560lbs/in)
(8kg/mm = 448lbs/in)
(6kg/mm = 335lbs/in)

unless the car is going to be raced a lot, I would suggest going with the typical 8kg F/6kg R

The stock springs are something like 275F/150R lbs. ( Please correct me if I am wrong )

The KIT for ALL four corners will be as of now at US$250.00 plus shipping costs. Shipping is not yet determined as I have to find out how heavy the FULL kit is. I will post as soon as I know. But it should be between US$50.00 and US$70.00 for Surface Shipping with Insurance and delivery confirmation.

So basically you will get FOUR (4) of everything on the picture bellow:

Now the Rear Adjustable Camber Plates:

Also available NOW at the same time as the Coil Over GP. The set of REAR adj Camber plates will run US$60.00/AU$83.00 and shipping IF YOU DECIDE TO get ONLY the Camber Plates will be a FLAT fee US$20.00/AU$29.00 for Express delivery ( 4 to 7 days ). Surface shippng is available for US$15.00/AU$22.00 OR they can be shipped WITH the Coil Overs for only US$5.00/AU$8.00 more.

Bellow is a link to the info on the rear Adj Camber Plates:
http://www.antimpower.com/misc/camberplateguide.htm

Also if anyone is interested in REAR Camber Plates they can be arranged as well please post if interested.

ANYONE can contact me at ( oscardortega@yahoo.com )
Thanks again

what do the different kg/cm ratings mean in terms of ride height and comfort?

Well ride height is adjusted by the threaded sleeve NOT by the Spring Rate. And the softer ( Lower Spring Rate ) the more comfort. BUT it will NOT be the same as your original springs.

Remember you are going UP in spring rate/presure from your factory springs. So your ride WILL be harder as you increase spring rate.

I so want to get a set from ya man, but there is no way i can before that date, maybe if you did a group buy closer to the end of the year, I worked it out and it will cost us around $340 for the kit not including shipping.

I am going for a lower front spoiler for the starion first which will hopefully cost me less than $375 i am hoping other starion owners will go for it too. so it brings the price down

But I would be interested, just not in october.

Cheers

Hello Ben

If I was the MAIN guy on the GP I will try to push the date back or just keep one for you. But I am just the AU connection to the US member thats doing the GP here in the US. He lives about 3 hours from me so we are close frinds and I offered to post his info on the AU site for him and since I am known here better than he is he said allright.

So I am sorry but he cant push the date back any more as he allready have 24 US members in it allready.

Sorry

Is the overall suspension travel reduced, extended, or remains the same as standard?

To answer your question:

The LOWER you adjust the suspenssion the LESS travel the suspenssion will have and vise versa if you go higher.

Remember, if you have soft springs you will benefit from more travel but if you go to stiffer springs you dont need as much travel as the increased spring ratio will not allow the suspenssion to travel its full ability in the same given reaction time if you had softer springs.

Do you follow me ?

Possibly interested.

Is it possible to have a higher than stock ride height with these springs? (may want to run the rar in both off and on road events, so if so, these would be perfect..)
I'm assuming there'll be no troubles in fitting to a narrowbody.

Thanks mate

Well actually I think the highest you can go with THESE is Stock Higth NOT higher. The threaded sleeve is about 3 inches tall, if it was 4 inches tall (Like the Ground Controls or Noltec's) then YES you could go 1 inch higher than stock and drop about 2 inches lower than stock.

So I am not sure if these will work for what you are trying to accomplish.

Is there any pics of them fitted to a strut?

My understanding of a coil over strut is to have the abillity to lower the car using a stiffer (or softer) spring rate, and yet still retain the cars original suspension travel.
From what I gather these to adjust how compressed the spring is, rather than being able to lower the car but still using a long spring.
other than ride being able to adjust the ride height, what other benefits do these offer compared to just using a shorter spring in the standard strut?

Count me in!

Shouldn't there also be a second locking nut? Is it just not shown in the photos? (Edit, just saw locking mechanism, clever!)

Hey buddy I think you need a new prescription on your eye glasses :D
The LINK to the install is on the first post.

HERE it is....
http://www.antimpower.com/misc/coiloverguide.htm

Some pics there and ALL the install photos as well.
And to answer your questions...

>>Other than ride being able to adjust the ride height, what other benefits do these offer compared to just using a shorter spring in the standard strut?

NOTHING else. Thats the reason to get Coil Overs is to be able to control HOW LOW you want the car and to set up Corner Weights ( Corner weights Will balance the car so you'll have a PERFECTLY 0 balanced car) for racing applications.

>>My understanding of a coil over strut is to have the abillity to lower the car using a stiffer (or softer) spring rate, and yet still retain the cars original suspension travel.

NO not at all.
Coil Overs will allow you to LOWER or RAISE your car to your needs and likes by means of the ADJUSTING/THREADED sleeve and lower spring seat. The spring is NEVER compressed more or less when lowering or raising the car. So basically the WHOLE Spring assemble moves UP or DOWN as a single unit. Coil overs further give you a choice of spring rates to choose from rather than just a pre determined rate that was chosen for the model car you have. So if you order lowering springs for the factory suspenssion from ANY manufacturer you WILL NOT be able to specify a spring rate. With Coil overs you CAN ( Those rates are listed on the first post )

Hope this clarifies things for you.

That's preload. From those pics they can't adjust spring preload.

If you buy your springs from people that know what they are doing you can. I know king springs in Queensland make springs to order for my fathers business and I'm sure other spring manufacturers would do the same as well.

I think you are missing the point. Coil overs allow you to to adjust the bottom spring platform which alters your ride height. Basically you could put in a steel tube instead of your spring and you could still adjust your ride height!
What travel you have (bump, droop), free length, preload, actual travel is purely how you design it.
Another benefit is the coil over designs use various "standard" dimension springs so there is a huge range of spring rates available.

And yes if you lower your bottom spring platform all else being equal you will have reduced suspension travel.
