used engine.. unknown condition

this is pretty much new!!..
whats the point of buying a used engine which you will have to rebuild anyway..

like i said.. labour alone cost $850.00
head gasket $300 new
performancesprings $170.00
arp rod bolts $80.00
that is already $1400.00

now core, pistons, rods, cam shafts, cam gears, rocker, alone are unaccounted for..

if u just want the head.. ill let that go alone for $1250.00
so the other extra's are $250.00

for those who have experienced building an engine you guys should know how much the machining / labour costs..

Are the rods fine on the stock 4G63 SOHC crank. Also are the pistons standard or oversize? Also are the pistons used? What head bolts do you use, are VR4 the same as 4G63 SOHC?

What about all the stupid stuff like the bolts that hold the tappet cover on, small head studs, etc? This sort of stuff can be a real pain unless you get a whole engine.

more parts

You would also need a few more major parts if you wanted to use a starion block.

Such as cam belt idler/bracket and new main pulley, cam sensor thingy, anything else major apart from inlet/exhaust manifolds?

Safer to say the whole front of the engine, timing cover's are different because of hydraulic tensioner, cam belt idler etc.

Then your right, you have cas, manifolds, water flow etc to battle with.

i am not 100% sure on what needs to be done on the starion engine as i have not seen one

but i know you can get a 4g64 2.4L hyundai block and crank for $100 bux or so...

this head would bolt right up on it.. so many options with this head..

2.4L block with this head
or
2.0L block with a 2.4L crank with this head = 2.3L hybrid
or
2.0L block with this head..

i know that this head will fit on all of the above..

obviously the art of modifying requires alot of time and playing around but anything is do-able..

but rods / pistons are stock vr4 pistons + rods..
bolts will have to be sourced by buyer..
(i can provide part numbers)
or if lucky.. when i purchase my used head / rocker i can send them out asap to the buyer...

i just want to get rid of this before i do anything else to my engine..
