Would the pistons and rods be OK in a Starion Block?

You would need to contact the seller to determine if they were 6 or 7 bolt parts.

6 or 7 bolt pistons and rods will fit the starion block either way.

Pretty sure the only difference is the gudgeon pin, so it SHOULDN'T be a problem as long as you get both.

Cheers.

i was under the impression 7 bolt had different pin diameter and wider on big end as well... however i have seen stuff in the us of them "frankensteining" 6 bolt rods to work with the 7 bolt pistons

I have seen entire 7-bolt rotating assemblies installed into originally 6-bolt blocks.

I knew that the big ends were smaller but unsure if the 6&7 bolt mains were the same and if so no reason why the 7 bolt parts would not fit in the 6

OK, so got a reply - its all 7 bolt as we had expected.
Am I right in concluding that you would therefore need crank, pistons and rods - not just rods & pistons?
Then the 7 bolt crank would need a new flywheel etc etc?

I thought you only needed the rods and pistons as a set... Isn't an upgrade for our 4G63 6 bolt motors, the VR4 pistons? I have never measured everything, dave should know best.

Gudgeon pins are different size between 6 & 7 bolt cranks...22 is the first generation & 21mm is the 7 bolt stuff. That said, I fitted VR4 pistols to the original rods...

Been a long time since I've had to look too hard at 7 bolt stuff, but I'm 99% sure the big end bearings are different width & you have to machine the crank on a 6 bolt motor if u want to use 7 bolt rods & pistons. Why would you?
