JD for sale (WA)

Post by Noddy »

Hi

I need to move this along - business is too busy for me to work on it and I have to clear the garage to put my wifes car in there (so she tells me)

I have to make a choice from these options.....

1 Send it to the scrapyard..... may get $100?
2 Sell it to one of you guys.... make an offer
3 Strip for parts.... may get $10,000 rofl and sell all the parts

see previous post for pics
http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0

but be aware that I have had some issues as the beast will not run and I have just got to have it moved. The last straw was that the rear hatch window exploded and sent glass everywhere which I have cleaned up...... why I do not know but it coincided with a storm we had one day - even though the car was parked inside the garage. So it needs a new rear hatch glass........ which Nachoman has a spare anyway.

If you are interested then let me know - most moving car people will not transport without the car being driveable but if you have a mate with a truck leaving Perth to the East then we can chuck it on.......

For someone who has a little time this is a bargain to be had.....but be fair!

Shame you have to sell it..

Whatever you do, don't scrap it! It's just a matter of me finding somebody willing to transport it.

Will get back to you..

Sending for scrap isn't really an option, since some local forum member or a stranger from Gumtree would give you at least $101.

To get "reasonable" money, it pretty much needs to be running with the back window fixed.

If you've got the spare time to even consider parting it out then you have the time to fix it. Grab a hatch glass from Nacho and if you really can't sort the engine, pay someone to come out and diagnose the problem for you. Should only run a few hundred cost, then list the car here and Gumtree Perth for 2 or 3 grand and be done.

Unfortunately your car has pretty much become the poster child for why Starions are at the bottom of the modified/restored car pile these days. With the average person being so completely time poor, and there being such a significant shortage of restoration/aftermarket parts supply and service, here this good honest car with a couple of relatively minor problems can't even be kept in running repair by such an avid fan of the Staz's.

If it makes you feel any better I sit here day after day flipping between forging ahead with a multi thousand dollar complete rebuild or just pulling the plug and conducting the inevitable firesale of car and parts.
Serious Starion ownership is for the strong of heart only it seems. :(

My white GSR-V is a pain at the moment and I feel like getting rid of it. But if I don't get it arranged to be fixed, I don't think another owner will....so I need to keep at it!

I suggest getting someone else (knowledgeable mechanic) to get it running! Tape up the rear hatch with heavy gauge plastic and try and sell it then! You should get around $4K with some rego left on it.
It will also be attractive to eastern state buyers.

No rego, not running and broken glass hatch... $2.5K max!

If u get the hatch glass from a late enough starion, you should be able to bolt your hatch centre section on as per original.. You will then need to paint the tail piece.

Alternatively, don't try & remove the plastic tail piece from the new hatch glass without using some plastic melting solvent!

The JA & JB only have different hole spacings for the rubber spoiler. In your case, that shouldn't matter so much.

i am pretty sure the later ones have extra holes for the 3 piece rear wing centre section, i'm sure i've seen this on jb hatches and maybe s2 JA..

you would need to find a solvent that would melt plastic but not glass, good luck finding something that will attack the glue alone.. but to you a JA/JB tail panel doesnt matter as u can get rid of the glass from your JD tail panel and glue it onto a fresh glass..
