After talking to one of my suppliers yesterday, they said they have a heap of reco'd OEM mitsu shafts on the shelf.
If I can organise something, is there much of a call/need for them?

I've been racing my car for a few years now with around 320hp at the wheels and have never snapped a driveshaft. I think people only run into trouble when they have big-power or a locked diff. I have a few spare driveshafts ready to go.
I'm not sure that there would be any significant demand for them.

No offence dave, but 300 h/p, radials, with a manual on w/bank's startline would break anything. Hell, It even killed a 3 week old pair of simpson shoes of min a couple of years ago.
Bag tyres absorb the impact more and will put less stress on the shafts also having the auto will mean it wont strike the tyres as hard.
But this thread isnt meant to be for shafts for me. I have allready spoken to the guys who will make my billet shafts.
I was more wondering if there is a general need out in the starion community for them?

perhaps if they are made readily available (and affordable), more people with street driven stazzas will go drag racing? :beer
wishful thinking perhaps lol

Thinking about having a run at the drags but the thought of breaking things and putting hands in pocket and hitting bottom again gives me 2nd thoughts :?
Aaron if you don't mind my asking, what is the app cost of the billet shafts??
Dave can the 5bolt shafts be adapted to fit the 4 bolt setup??

Aaron how is your drag car progressing as it will be great to see it on the track running some good numbers & I feel sure that it will increase the awareness of our cars

Hi Aaron,
This one of the few parts that I haven't repaired/replaced; what's the cost for 2 & how any guess on shipping to 3140 in Melbourne?

It's the diameter of the spline where it goes into the diff side gears that is the problem Rad so nope you can't adapt the 6 bolt parts in to fix the problem..
Davebek had the same problem, thats one of the reasons why he abandoned the starion shell for racing.. I would have just put 6 bolt stuff in personally..

Rad, the car is progressing slowly. Now has had the rear cradle, front & rear suspension and steering system removed for modding/refrshing etc. Hopefully picking up the gearbox on sunday and the front brake setup arrives soon. Damn USPS.
Stock shafts are $150 ea + about $20 freight. The billet shafts (direct 4 bolt replacement) I expect to setus back about $850 each per side.

I see what you are saying dave and have an idea in mind for the half shafts.
Who is this Dave Bek you speak of?

Davebek is from mackay and ran a high 12 with a single cam, pulled the motor and put it into a triton.
Are you gun drilling the inner cv's?
I cant understand why you're not just using the 6 bolt rear end, it'd be a LOT cheaper than $850 per side axles!!

We have no problem with the 6bolt half shaft in us until you get around 550-600hp
here is a launch in slow motion i think this car has a solid axle conversion
