WTB: 17 inch Wheels and Tyres
WTB: 17 inch Wheels and Tyres
Looking for a set of nice wheels to suit my blue JA Starion. The offset would have to suit the Starion and I'm really after a set of white rims with low profile tyres in good condition. Any help would be great. I can pick them up from Sydney but I live in Port Macquarie so something close would be preferred. Looking to spend around $500.

NO But i'm sure that we would all like to see pics and specs :DPORT_NXR wrote:Hmmm, how hard is it to get a set of spacers that would suit the offset issue? Also, what kind of offset is needed for a JA? I only bought it about 3 months ago and have spent a fortune turning the car into showcar quality. Are spacers lekegal?
You could always install spacers for show days only IF you trailer it to and from or fit them when you get there. They become an issue because they make the car unroadworthy and in the event of a prang you will be up for not only the repairs to the staz but also whatever you hit as well THINK ABOUT IT SERIOUSLY
The rules are in plain language on your states transport website and it also includes the allowable increase in wheel diameters and widths

cheapest rims that would fit your budget are lenso D1R, i think they can come in 4 stud. basically you need an offset of 20 or under, and if you run 20 you cant go any wider than 7.5 on the front, ideally look for rims that are +10 offset or thereabouts. they're really hard to get.. if you have 5 stud you can get pre AU falcon rims cheap as chips, but you have to add on the cost of the 5 stud conversion..
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Thank you so much for the help guys. The car definitely isn't show condition yet and probably never will be anything like what's out there. I just want something that looks great and goes great. once I have all my bits and pieces fitted and looking good, I will post some pics. Thank you very much for the tips on legislation and the call earlier today Old Fart! Also, I went online to a company that sells the lenso D1R White 17x7 Wheels and have put in an enquiry as to how much they cost and will wait to hear back from them soon. I wish your shop was down here Dave!
Hey guys,
I found a set of Speedy rims here in Port Macquarie with brand new rubbers on them in good nick for only $500 so I'm buying them this week. I found a company in SA that said they do spacers for Starions but are $75 per corner. Is that a reasobale price or does anyone know anyone that would sell a set of second hand spacers?? I know the legalities involved but its impossible finding the rims that I want in my offset. I finally found them and will have to go the spacers route to make them work.

Thanks TOMSUN and Thrash. I wish I had the money to go the new wheel route. But I added it up, they want $165 per wheel plus $500 for powder coating then the cost of tyres on top. If I get these it will be $500 for wheels and pretty new tyres, plus only $100 from my mate at the powder coaters for all 4 wheels. Then $300 for the spacers so all up it will be $900 for exactly what I want. Not too much cheaper but I also don't have to pay for postage to Port Macquarie which isn't cheap. I get my car back from the tuner after being tuned with a new high flowing fuel pump tomorrow with plans for my microtech LT10s, a small front mount from a Ford XR6 turbo of all cars and the plans for a remachined cam to HKS spec and then a new small, quick spool turbo to run at 13-15psi. Slowly but steadily, making progress. :)
Wheels $660 + $50 freight + $100 for your mate to powder coat + $100 for 2nd hand tyres off ebay = $910 for a set of new wheels that don't require spacers and 8" so you can run a nice 235/45/17 on the rear and 225/45/17 on the front. Or save $100 and don't bother powder coating them.
I'm keen to see the wheels you get & your car. :beer

Tomsun forgot to add that with the proper rims you will actually have valid insurance if you require it, if you run spacer's you wont....

Spot on Dave . I know I keep banging on about keeping my car legal as I plan for the worst case scenario and hope and drive accordingly so it won't happen ie = like everybody is out to get me
If you fit spacers then your car is NOT roadworthy so NO insurance!!!!!!!!
Port you have been warned of the possible consequences so use your head and not your heart
Port It is a condition of your insureance policy that the car is roadworthy.Dont take my word for it read it for yourself
Pete I have the best tyres I can afford and the budget mags as in an emergency I want the absolute best grip as possible from the 4 small footprints of rubber on the road Flash bling bling mags are no help then
