I suppose that seems likely, however shipping costs vary greatly.
I know someone who imported a Lotus Esprit into this country and paid nearly $10,000 total. It was Manchester in the UK, to Perth.
He's not the sort of person who wouldn't look at any and all options too!
Crazy!
It could quite possibly depend on what sort of car it is too.

Firstly gst is calculated on the full amount, ie price of vehicle, customs duties (yep we have to pay duties as we dont have a fta with the uk ironically), freight among other things, so it wont be $150.

It would be more like 6000-7000 to get it landed before having to comply it to your state laws.

Nachoman - 10k is about right if you ship it by container which you would if you had to ship anything decent given the level of care the wharfies give you car

Yeah that's what I thought too.
It's still such a big amount though isn't it?

When my uncle was importing cars from japan it cost about 3 times more to ship via container than drive on drive off method.

It also depends on how much the car was valued at, also be aware that customs dont always value your car based on your invoices, if they believed that the invoices are too low they will give their own value, its rare that it happens though.
