Mine in my 82 Jap import works perfectly. The km/l is a bit out but I think thats more to do with integer division than broken-ness.

For anyone interested in the velnas , I fitted one to my aus'82 JA and it's not easy. For starters , either get the speedo cable from the car the velnas came from , or you will need a digital dash. The reason for this is the speedo cable has a hall effect device built into it to send pulses back to the velnas unit. If you take the digital dash option , give me a pm because you will need to use a circuit that divides the pulses from the back of the digital dash by five (total of about $15 in parts).
