So I might be looking for a new/rebuilt exhaust manifold for my GSR-V.
I'm not sure yet, but I think I have a crack in the usual place. It certainly seems like it, because the turbo is lazier, and the under bonnet noise is louder, and more ticky sounding. :(

So who's got one, or does them? I've done this on a Staz sooo many times now, and I'd like to not have to do it again for a LONG time!
I might try welding mine up, if it actually might work this time...

I may be wrong, but I think that the GSR-V's manifold is different.
I was led to believe that the standard manifold doesn't flow as well, but it will still fit.
Thanks heaps for the offer, and I'm definitely going to keep it in mind.
I'm considering a significant upgrade, (if such an option exists), or weld mine back up, and get it ceramic coated, so that it doesn't crack again.
Otherwise, if I get stuck, I might grab yours...

I have a dash (pulse) exhaust mani as well, but I'm not letting it go for that price!!! Somebody grab a bargain,
(if Nachoman is not interested!!) These of course are an upgrade over the standard one!

the dash one will fit normal starions yes? since the exhaust side is the same?

This should probably be in technical....One way to stop it cracking again is to stress relieve it...on the inside at each end of the crack (if possible) drill a shallow hole about 3 or 4mm diameter. It stops the crack continuing further.
Then weld the outside again.

The other thing is that it may in fact not be cracked. The manifold has been through thousands of heat cycles and over time will have gotten warped. No amount of tightening it to the head will resolve the problem and you are probably just going to break the studs instead. Get someone to machine the face of it for you, that might quieten it down immensely.

It could be a gasket or loose/snapped stud. Check before you leap into buying another.

New divided pulse manifolds are stil available from Mitsubishi for around 450ish. But make sure the manifold is cracked first and that its just not warped at the faces.

we've been trying to find out the part number of them for ages, do you have it?

I'm not going to make any rash assumptions, but knowing my luck it'll be cracked.
I'd be interested to know what the Mitsubishi part number is, because it never hurts to have a spare, especially for a rare beast like the GSR-V

Its still available from Japan according to the local Mitsubishi spare parts department with a 2-3 week time frame on delivery apparently.
