I need a JD type short torque tube as the one I got with my diff has lots of wear in the teeth.

Happy to pay to get one from the states if its good.

Thanks but it would cost me a fortune to send a dash head and manifold to the states...

this maybe if they post!
He wont post. The guy came accorss like a bit of a knob when I asked about the spline wear lol

Has anyone tried moving the mount on a long tube back, so it fits onto the diff and the mount bolt holes line up with the crossmember? It would mean shortening the drive shaft but thats easyer than finding a good short torque tube.

Q: Are the teeth where it fits over the diff gear worn? A pic of these would be great if you can. And would you send to New Zealand at my expense? Thanks Jan-24-09
A: This would not be on Ebay if it was junk. I feel it's not worth my time taking extra pictures and filling out customs forms for a lousy $30.00 bucks. Sorry.

No not yet.
Im going to try moving the tube mounts on a longer one. Either that or see if I can get a centre from a long one shortened to fit a short tube. Can't be much different than shortening the axles on a diff.
And I thought, just for a laugh, I might try and get a price for a new one

Got the Mani and Head, need other bits. But I've got one, I'll get it pulled and check the condition.

Yeah I reckon....

Right, I have solved the torque tube problem. I found an engineer that specializes in fixing warn and broken gears. We pulled one apart and found that the large end that goes over the gear on the end of the diff is pressed and welded on. So he has machined off the old warn one and replaced it with one he machined off a long torque tube. I've got a few long ones here and they seem to wear much better. I'm guessing this is because they don't normally have LSDs and there for dont have to deal with the same strain.

Anyway, I had two buggered short torque tubes and he fixed both for $270. So Ive now got a spare :D

He did also say that it would be easy to shorten a long one to fit the bigger diff. So if you did have a big diff with out the torque tube you now have an easy option.
