If you have trouble finding one, you could try the starquest forums. Or if you dont need knock control you can use the bosch one as per merlin's guide in the tech section.

Using that bosch ignitor wont cause your engine to ping, it takes away the safety net in situations where your engine can ping. Situations where if you have a bad batch of fuel or old fuel or where you can't get high enough octane fuel.
There could be a chance that on a really hot day where you have high load and low rpm, ie going up a hill in to high a gear that the engine could ping and the knock sensor will pull back the timing.
Ultimately though the ignitor is a dumb unit, firing the coil when the ecu, or in the case of a starion the dizzy tells it to fire. Assuming that the 2.6 dizzy is mechanical like the aus delivered starions, timing is set by the weights in the dizzy and the boost/vaccuum diaphram.
I would ask the ecu guy why he thinks that it would ping its head off using the bosch ignitor as you can take steps to reduce the likely-hood of the ignitor needing to pull back the timing.
