What's a chain cost to replace by the way? I'll bet it's more than a belt...
clunky chain drive ("bullsh-t")
you have never had a 4g54 turbo ,"EVER"
or you have 4g63t blinkers on, Ive never
had a 4g63t in the 12 second 1/4`s, but add boost
and fuel to an old school astron turbo setup
and it`ll do it EASY

4g63t is a good engine but over priced to get the
same power as an astron turbo.
chains dont fail, maybe your friend didnt know
how to put it on it aint no big thing properly
Tell you what: you put $2500 and put it into your 63t
I`ll put up the same $2500 and we`ll race where ever you ltke.

i have both, i like the 63 more... they're just nicer to drive. and the chains in my widey have only lasted to 13XXXXkm's before getting rattly. and its a jap spec motor with the jap chains not an aussie built one with the cheapo ones. so the chains only last about 30000km more than the belt system. but cost a shitload more to replace with the guides etc which always need doing too. its a shit of a job. t belt is easy peasy though.

only thing making sohc 63T more expensive to get going fast is the shitty stock piston design. but VR4 pistons in cast (which will handle well over 20psi) can be had for about $400 with rings. and if u need an engine rebuild anyway, its the same price as starion ones..

phil u might wanna specify $2500 spent on an engine other than his GSR-V's dash though LOL that thing would be a weapon just with a turbo and exhaust system change!
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Hey thats got ppl fired.
I think you take an average, starion, none butchered 63t
and a sigma turbo,(same sort of average condition) 4g54t
then through a few grand at em and see who comes
up with the numbers.
Oh before everyone jumps on the 2.0 vrs 2.6 band wagon I`ll
have to say here and now that you would have to be a SPECIAL
type of person to build a 2L astron and most ppl have 2.6 astrons.
I have both motors 3 starion 63t`s and when the 63`s are
going well they are fast but when my 54t`s are going well
they sh-t on the 63`s over the 1/4 mile.

"And thats what im saying"

You must have some really shitty 63's. Then again if you are talking about measuring an engines performance there is a lot more to using one than a straight 400m strip of bitumen.

I wonder why Ralliart have dropped the 2,6 and use the 63 for all their 'performance' activities. I know, I know, the budget. Consider the weight, response and balance of the 54 and it doesn't compare to a 63.

I know saying good things about the 4g54
wont win favoritisim, I just love the torque
of long stroke motors like the g54,245-265 hemi
all of which dont compare to say a high reving CHAIN driven
sr20 - BDA 4g63 or other race bread engine
and I have to say that the 4g54 (for racing) is
a little heavy in the cornering game and was prolly
the reason Rallyart stayed with the snub nose 4g63
(race by design) engine
Dont fret Im not baggin 63`s, but in single form
starion layout, THEY AINT ALL THAT without money
and the average starion owner here would be a DIY`er
with shallow pockets and that is where Im putting the
4g54 as a bang for buck contender.
Chill boyz

honestly (and i'm not gettin upset either guys and i hope u arent either) i think the only REAL thing holding the aussie starion sohc 4G63 back is the SHITHOUSE TC series turbo's. so much nicer to drive (even with stock TBI) with a TD05 on them.....

Absolutely! I had a my tc06 rebuilt with td06 innards and it made SO much difference to my stock 4G63!

I like Starions, and I like the fact that they are all different.

Stirring is fine. I appreciate them all. It is also great to have variety and passion for what you like. A little competition is healthy too.

The same logic can be applied to the 2.6 surely. Why Mitsi put a smaller turbo than used on the 2L is beyond me.

4G54 - 107kg
