Wondering if the panels would bolt directly onto the JD....

And is it a 2.0 or 2.6?

kind of. Front will. Back needs some cut and shut. Then the inner guards (around the wheel)... Then you need to decide if the wheels look any good sticking that far in a wide guard...

Its alot of work to do a widebody conversion. You could just 'dud' it by putting yr tags and numbers on the widebody from your JA. But that could get you a criminal record and in Jail down the track and is really not a good idea.

......er, shit.....did i just say the obvious?

Are body swaps still legal? I know that they used to be in NSW. That is how a lot of early EVO's were done (mostly in Victoria).

I think you may be able to swap some engine and brake parts into a lancer from an evo, but it all needs to be engineered. Whats happening with this Staz however, is not as such. If you wanted to buy this car i would be talking to engineers who comply this sort of thing, but i would think just buying an original is a hell of alot easier and eventually cheaper and hold resale value as well. What we have here is a Track car.

Correct. This one is missing the intercooler and has an older JA motor fitted.

It is basically a widebody JA/JB. As long as it is registerable, I think this is a good buy. Add aftermarket ecu, MPI, turbo and a cooler and it will be one sweet ride.

Of course it's registerable. I have no doubt you'll find a way to register it legally. As Flav was saying, it's a matter of how much you would have to spend or be willing to spend to get it properly complied.

Doing the dodgy will bear other costs!
You see, there's all sorts of costs involved. Ask yourself honestly what price you are willing to pay?
