Dave must have thought I was already converting over. No sweat.

I was told my Derek about the block, and he said they did have the oil squirters. I will have to check for myself before buying obviously.

And yes I already have my block, is there a problem with buying a 4G64 block over a 4G63 block? Are they the same except for the crank?

And I don't have to worry about the MOD plate much because all the L300 blocks I am after is around the 88-89 model anyway from memory...
1) i never told you that you had to get a B26 carby bellhousing to do the twin cam swap using your starion gearbox, thats just silly!

2) derek would have told you the L300 block has PROVISION for oil squirters

3)if you have 4G63 rods and pistons already, you wont be buying a 4G64 bottom end hey!

woody this is what happens when you ask 20 different people for advice, who have 20 different opinions........

Woody,

Start again on the research,

Starion block/VR4 head = no power steering mounts, but can use original box (Or B2600 and RX7 combo.)

VR4 engine = has factory power steering brackets, is narrow block so dellow gearbox adaptor and w seires gearbox. (plus more drivetrain mods)

4g64= Stroker or destroker depends on the piston/crank combo. Wide or narrow depends on the block(comes in 6 and 7 bolt). You can run a starion box if wide, or supra/dellow if narrow. Will have mounts for power steering on block.

Then there is the EVO 1-3 or RVR 7 bolt narrow conversion

If i was to do it all again, i would use a rvr motor and dellow adaptor/supra box with a evo 6-9 intake.

What size pins are in the pistons you bought? 21 or 22mm, as that will now limit your options

The reason i suggested the dellow bellhousing was because it was easier to source than the b2600. The supra gearboxes are cheap and can handle a decent amount of power, also you can get aftermarket gearsets for them off the shelf (not cheap though).
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.

Ok Ok sorry if I may have confused a few people.

I didn't mean to say that anyone was wrong, because they weren't. I was just trying to learn here.

I didn't think I needed the bellhousing, and its good that I didn't. More money to save.

Just wondering, what DO people think about blocks without oil squirters?

The only reason I was going for the L300 63 block was because of the holes for the brackets so that you can mount everything off it.

Sorry for any confusion.

bITE THE BULLET NOW AND PUT A GEARBOX BEHIND THE MOTOR WHICH HAS NOT ONLY THE ABILITY TO HANDLE THE EXTRA TORQUE AND ADDED POWER BUT HAS MUCH IMPROVED SHIFT CHARACTERISTICS TO BOOT. THE EXTRA COST NOW IS CHEAPER THAN DOING IT DOWN THE TRACK : PULLING IT OUT PUTTING IN THE NEW ONE HAVING A WORTHLESS BOX ETC ETC

What bracketry does a L300 block have that a starion 4G63 block not have? They came with P/S, A/C etc. Are you looking to upgrade to serpentine belts?

You need to do more research on what exactly you want before going too much further to avoid wasting money.

You are changing engines to one that was not an option in '88/89. I think you should check with an engineer to make sure you don't need a mod plate. Don't rely on interweb advice for something so important (for insurance anyway)

I do know I need a mod plate. Already thought of that.

I am still in the process of researching, thats why I am on here asking :D

I thought you needed some custom brackets so that you could mount the PS, AC and Alternator all onto the Starion block? If not, AWESOME. But I thought you did...

What about using a Starion block and using Cordia Turbo brackets and pulleys. They run a serpentine belt for the alternator. Not sure about the power steering or Aircon ones but.
-JA Starion with JD bits , Forged engine, Heaps of mods (parked up)
-BFII XR6 Turbo Ute , Here comes 400hp for 2k :p
-77 Mazda 323 drag car. 13bt rotary project.

Yes i have too many toys.

why not just buy a vr4/evo1-3/rvr long block and stop all the fucking around and just put the starion engine mounts on it?!

u will in the long run end up probably doing it cheaper with alot less hassle!

Doesn't bolt to the starion gearbox. Needs to be wideblock.
