Blueslip from other states

Post by starionc »

Yes and it can be a pain in the arss!!! I bought a 2001 corolla last year, the RTA sent me to have it VIN inspected. as I was not the owner in the cars home state. Big hassle.... But worth it in the end if you have the time and money!

The big thing to watch out for is the motor ie. is it the whole VR4 or is it the VR4 head on the starion block,,, same numbers etc. The add says VR4 engine so I would say that the correct paper work to back that up would also be needed to avoid any further issue

Cheers

I've emailed him about it. Everything is standard on the DOHC head, standard ECU, standard Turbo, etc etc thats why the power figure is quite low. standard gearbox and starion bottom end. Completely standard. The only thing that has been changed is the head to the dohc with the matching manifolds and the appropriate ecu from the vr4.

If you whacked a TD05-B16G and an aftermarket ECU on it would make much better numbers I think.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but is that a head that he bolted to the stock 2.6l block? I would love a DOHC head but was under the inpresion that none would fit.

hey mate,

2.6's weren't released in aus. We all have 2.0 4g63 narrow bodies, so the vr4 dohc head is a "bolt on" modification :P lol

Ok thanks a lot for the info, you don't even have 2.6 in your wide body starions? I am sorry to hear that, you all should buy up some 2.6 and have em shipped over.

In our widebodies? Lol I wish we were lucky enough to have AU delivered widebodies. The only widebodies that exist in australia are imports as far as I am aware, usually from Japan.

Mate 2.6 engines are dime a dozen here. Mitsubishi Australia built them here since the late 70's.
Actually the 4G63 SOHC is a MUCH nicer engine. I have 2 Starions JA 2.0 litre and Widebody 2.6 (one of the handful in OZ). The 2.0 is so much nicer to drive plus they handle heaps better the 4G63 is a lot lighter and shorter engine.
Plus the VR4/Eclipse 1gen DOHC head fits on with a bit of work so much more power potential than the good old 2.6.

Plus our 4G63 2.0 SOHC Starions came with a bigger turbo (TC06) than on your 2.6's :D
This is because the 2.0 Starion was extensively raced in GroupA by Ralliart. In GroupA the bits had to be built on the road cars before you could use them on the race cars.
