Conquest tails

Post by MainstreaM »

These were another victim of the flooding at my house and will need to be taken apart and cleaned. Starquest guys don't want to go to the trouble since good ones are plentiful. These have no cracks or chips that I can tell.

Here's a crappy poorly lit kitchen floor pic:

50 plus shipping which will probably be around 100 due to size.

Still pissed they don't allow sea shipping anymore, air only for outbound so you'll get it quickly.

They look like a good set to clean up and remove the red blinker lense and/or insert amber lense or clear for downunder use.

I think I have 2 sets I need to do!
Basically what you do is loosen the glue with a heat gun (from a fair distance) and then put taillight in oven for 10 mins at temp below 90* celsius. (very important!)
Pull apart by prying the lense off. Clean or clear insides. Heat again and put back together again.
An extra person helping pry off makes it easier before taillight cools so reheat if it's stubborn. It's tricky but definitely worth it.

Or use as is with a good flush and hope you don't get picked up for it by the authorities :D

I submerse the whole light in hot water in the laundry tub, wear rubber gloves, and pry them apart while still submersed. Keeps them nice and hot, but doesn't damage them at all.

I think you'd be unlucky to get busted for red indicator lenses....but there will no doubt be one cop who would ping you for it. I had mine on for ages with red indicators and wasn't ever pulled up for it. I tried painting a bulb yellow....did jack...but maybe a yellow LED globe would improve the situation.

Wouldn't a green bulb with the red lens get the yellow you want?

I have red indicators on my widebody with the same tail lights and never been pulled over. Had plenty of cops look at the car too, but no issues.

I did try yellow globes, and even yellow LED lights, but still came out red, so gave up and just run like this. Had it for 2 years no problems.
