Quite a lot more unfinished than the owner makes out!
I'd rather this, then go virtually straight out and play:

nah.. sr20 weight about 145 to 150 kg and 1uz's are about 213kg ,probably less then sum early cast iron head and block stuff but what i meant was there not much of a performance engine , good for 4wd's lol .thrash wrote:not really.. they weigh a tad less than an sr20...greenstaz82 wrote:they're a bit of a boat anchor though .

Josh Young's sprinter used stock unopened 1UZ's, bolted on his ITB manifold and headers and cranked out 190-200RWKW from a few of them.. not a bad result, a set of cams really wakes them up too
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

while i have not weighed the 1uz motors myself, multiple sources from the net as well as some friends who have played with them put the weight of the 1uz in at 170 - 190kg, including accessories.. I assume not every single one of them is a retard.
sr20det measured at 150.. is that with accessories such as air con compressor?
and in regard to being not very exciting in standard form, they WERE meant to be a luxury engine, not a power crazed mongrel:P The development funds were put into smoothness and ultra reliability - both of which = performance POTENTIAL :D
hmm.. what was this topic about again? rofl

im not exactly sure on the true weight with all the bolt on's for either motor but i cant see the v8 being lighter ,but hey.. i could be wrong .There a pretty smooth running motor thats for sure .thrash wrote:while i have not weighed the 1uz motors myself, multiple sources from the net as well as some friends who have played with them put the weight of the 1uz in at 170 - 190kg, including accessories.. I had an early 3.8 toyota v8 that came out of a Century , It was a copy of the early chrysler Hemi ,it was a single cam pushrod engine with alloy block and heads . cant remember the engine model though .
Well this car ran into the 9's on a stock 1UZ bottom end. And is driven to the track, drop the pipes, change the tyres and race, then drive home again.
He chose to go down the 1UZ path because if is the biggest motor you can engineer (and the car is 100%) in the capri in NSW.
