OK guys, it's gotten to the stage where I just can't afford to keep fixing this. So I'm going to put it up for sale.
1981 GJ Scorpion
The good:
2.6L manual
GE-GH Lovells rear springs
Has a new head gasket, timing chain, balance shaft chain, chain guides, tensioner and a new water pump.
I put new bearings, seals etc. in the diff approx. 5,000km ago.
Full set of 5 factory alloys, I may have 4 14x6 Hotwires as well depending on whether my mate wants them or not
CD player, no-name component speakers in boxes on the parcel shelf
Spun strut tops :P
The bad, where to begin  :
The motor's rooted. I did put rings and bearings in it at the same time I did the diff but something has let go, it makes a horrible knock/rattle noise.
Interior is fairly tidy, but there's a few stains, the drivers seat is fairly tired, the dash is warped a bit and the factory steering wheel that's going back in it is a bit ratty looking
There's a fair bit of rust. Two holes on the left hand side, some surface/bubbles in the boot, boot seal lip is partially gone, bottom of the front guards, engine bay where the brake master cylinder was leaking, there's probably more but it's too dark to be rust hunting right now.
Gearbox whines, the shifter's a tad sloppy too. It sometimes doesn't like going into reverse as well.
Probably could do with a once over in the suspension department, bushes, balljoints etc as it's pretty tired
Tiny leak in the brake master cylinder
No seal on the rear brake reservoir lid, it's got electrical tape instead :$
Slight amount of diff backlash, like 2-3mm or so. Didn't have a carrier gasket so it has a healthy layer of gasket goop instead and a layer of silastic around the join, dodgy but it works.
Quite a few dents, the worst one is on the rhs front guard and continues approx. 1/3 of the way across the bonnet, looks like someone dropped a forklift fork on it
Paint is well and truly rooted
Pics:
^I'm keeping the wheels on the front in this pic^
I'm keeping the GH steering wheel in the last pic, it'll have the standard wheel instead.
It has rego until the 23rd of February 2011
It'd probably be best for parts or a project, although with a running engine it'd make a decent daily.
It runs well enough to drive onto a trailer, but I wouldn't be going any further than that.
Price: $300
