WTB SHP Widey Wheels - Yes, You Read Right.

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone out there who's willing to part with a set of shp widebody wheels they've got hidden away?

I'm looking for the 8" wide pair for the front and the 9" wide pair for the rear - even if they aren't the shp ones, but are this width, i'd be interested.

And yes, i know the rocking horse droppings argument etc etc blah blah but i'm putting this out there anyway, just in case.

i might be considering selling my 7 inch non shp and 8 inch non shp zero offset rear Jap spec widey rims next year if i end up getting the rims i want for my car..

Apart from GroupAralliart buying a set on here last from Bodeo for over a grand, this is not a cheap exercise. Most wheels would need to be refurished to remove the clearcoat and nicks and marks.
You're looking at $300 per wheel shipped from the US if you find some on ebay....
Finding the right tyre for the 9x16 wheel(245x45x16) is also becoming a pain in the arse. 7" & 8" may be a better option or 8" all round!

Or get a set of mags in 17" where tyre size should not be a problem...

BTW I have a spare set in 7&8's to suit a widey....+18 and -10 offsets but not for sale atm. The other set is for my GSR-V.

Its not even if they want to sell it, its also about what car its going to go on.

I certainly wouldn't sell a set of SHP rims unless it was going to be used on a Widebody or GSR-VR, and for originality purposes most owners would find it difficult to sell them off regardless if they have them on the car or not.

As I mentioned to someone else, pay an extra $100-$200 for a premium-refurb'd mint set from the US and get them sent by USPS air. It will cost a bit but if you have a Widebody to fit them onto, then its all relative.

Is it about getting SHP wheels? Or you just want wheels that happen to be the same diameter, width offset etc as the SHP units?

If it is the latter, may I suggest calling Retro Wheels in Mortdale. He bought everything leftover when Simmons closed down.

Call Performance Alloy wheels in SA, they can customise there rims to suit your application. I was going to get them to make me 15x4 & 15x9 Performance Challengers before I decided to go 5 stud.

If you have 5 stud, I fitted the 9" ones to the rear of mine and the 8" rears to the front (they have much better dish then the SHP 8") and they fitted fine...
Although I would recommend finding someone with a proper guard roller and rolling the inside lip of the guard up.
Also If your going for that wheel combo make sure that you get the right tyre size. Too wide and they'll rub...

the 9" wheels ARE the SHP ones :D

Unfortunately, for something as rare as these, then you mgiht just have to bite the bullet and pay the price. (ie import from USA)

redzone, I will be interested in getting your 8" ones to put on the front of my car.

Yes, I am going 5 stud, but this is still a number of months away. I figure these things only ever turn up about once every two hundred years, so i'm posting early so that those who have them sitting in a shed have it at the back of their minds that I want a set, in case they ever decide to sell.

When everything else is ready for me to change the hubs/brakes/suspension, if nobody has coughed up a set/pair/even a single wheel, I will consider my options and either import from the US (although I don't think there are that many of them floating around there at the moment either), or find some other less attractive wheels that will suit.

It's not for a widey, they will be going on my narrowbody staz. I think the widey staz wheels are the best looking wheels out there, perhaps other than work meister S1s. I'm not particularly fussed about them being SHP wheels - in fact, i would prefer NOT to have something as rare, but I like the way the widey rims look, and they are the perfect size and offset :(

I know tyres aren't all that easy for 16x9 wheels.. unfortunately for me i want some width on the rear, but i'd prefer to not get larger than a 16" rim on the staz.

I think you will find that companies like, weld, cragar, American racing etc will make wheels that will fit, and look good too.
