There are two factory 4 stud Starion wheels - the 14x6 8 spoke wheels on early Starions (ie on JA in Australia), and the 15x6.5 4 big spoke/4 small spoke on mid 80s models (JB and JD in Australia). Then there are the 15x6.5 5 stud wheels which have a concave face with 5 spokes 'cut out' from it which is on the 5 stud flatbodies.spinners wrote:when I first bought my 83 EX Starion(about 7 years ago)It had factory 15x6.5.dirtygalant wrote:also bear in mind that JA, JB and JD doesn't apply to any Starions in New Zealand - unless they are a private import from Australia.
In NZ we have the NZ-new 'EX' model which is 4 stud up until around 1984 and then from then onwards they are 5 stud. The Jap import models, which are A183A models are 4 stud, however DASH powered A183A models are 5 stud.
My mates old 83 jap spec had 14x6 on it.
all 4 stud

If they are bolt on spacers that are no more than 25mm thick and have hubcentric rings to suit both the hubs they are attaching to, and the wheels that are fitting to them, they are totally legal and can be certified.Tamgesic wrote:spacers are ilegall
The illegal ones are the usual spacers as they space the wheels out too far for the centrebore of the wheel to fit on the hub spigot (although most aftermarket wheels have this issue anyway).
By the time you purchase a set of decent bolt on spacers ($200-300) you'ld be better off finding the correct offset wheels so suit. I reckon there's just something wrong about putting new style FWD offset rims on Starions or any angular 80s cars in general - they just look out of place, and wheels from that era suit the car so much more.
