if you redrill them and flip the centres in the rims, they will probably fit starion. also gemini's are +30mm, and the biggest wheel you'll fit in the rear arches is an 8. front 7.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

oh yeah?

That's 16x9 and fits front and rear sweet. Unsure of the offset though, probably closer to 0 on these.

you can definitely fit wide rims in Geminis/Chevettes - however not big diameter rims as easily.. so most muppets who want to put their 18" chromies on geminis complain they can't get ride rims in the arches.

That's 13x8 on a Chevette wagon (Vauxhall version of the T-Car)

As for MX-5s and wide rims

16x9 +20ET on this:

16x8 on this, and plenty more room for another inch in width:

That's right here in NZ mate, but yeah just a tad too low to be legal like that :D

It now has an Opel X20XEV ecotec 2L DOHC on 4A-GE 20V quad throttlebodies and a link ECU - sounds absolutely amazing on song. A very fast car.

maybe i should have qualified that "without hitting anything".

there's no way in hell a 9 will fit in a T car wheel arch without scrubbing. on an Isuzu based one anyways. the arches just arent that wide, nowhere near as wide as say a KE20 corolla. i've been into gem's since 1995, i've had 22 of them, i know how easily the RHR tyre can scrub when entering a steep driveway on an angle with wide rims. and how the inner arch cuts back in above the wheel arch lip. similarly how little room there is between the front shock and the wheel arch lip. opel based ones have different front sus so that MAY be different.

here's a pic of one of my coupes with Volk GR-C 16X7 & 16X8 +25

I can appreciate that you probably know a bit more about geminis than I would - but I'm just putting it out there that other people have been able to fit wide rims, albielt with aids like tyre stretching and lower pro tyres.

Chevette (and I would assume the Opel Kadett C) front suspension is the same for the Gemini, apart from the different brake (rotors/caliper/steering knuckle) setup.

Did you have an adjustable panhard rod on the rear of yours to centre the diff after lowering? may have prevented a bit of tyre scrub.

Another pic of him mocking up the 16x9s on the gem wagon:

And more pics of those 13x8s on the front of the Chevette:

yep, had an adjustable panhard rod, still doesnt stop it scrubbing the inside RHR when the diff gets on the right angle though. that wagon with the 9's looks like the front wheels are poking out by an inch or so.

i know for sure the chevrolet chevette has similar but different front sus, and most of the pressings inside the engine bay are different too. i have a mate thats got one, its been converted to rhd. i assumed the vauxhall version would be the same.. i'm 99% sure the kadett c is same as the chev. location of the front shock absorber is the big thing that stops big wheels in the front of a gemini.

anyways, this website is about starions not gemini's, but i'm sure adrian appreciates the free bumps this has given him, and i'll link this thread to ozgemini.com..
