WTB: Jap demister relay (located under passenger seat)

Post by enthuzed »

Been stuffing around with my A183A Jap import trying to get my demister working and I'm not winning so far.

If I can buy a relay from any Jap GSR model, be it a GSR-II through to a GSR-V that'd be great.

See the bottom of the pic for the black 20 pin plug (with 19 wires) that it goes onto:

Oh, ignore the module on the RHS, it has nothing to do with it - it's a speed chime from a Jap model.

Many thanks.

no way a demister relay needs 19 wires to operate ;)

It's the ETACS control box, does lots of things.

I am probably way off here but it looks surprisingly similar to the connection behind the climate control aircond unit? The relay and bracket in the same pic also come from the same area of the console

Sounds like it's the ETACS box that I'm after.
It apparently looks like an ECU in it's anodised metal housing.
Definitely lives under the front passenger seat.
Anyone got one floating?

It seems to control all the flashy gizmos on most Jap model Mitsubishis from that era. The one in my 1980 Eterna GSR (import Scorpion) controls courtesy light fade and delay, door chime, headlamp on warning, rear demister switch and timer and it's unconfirmed yet if it controls the windscreen wipers too.

My 1991 E33A (import) Galant VZ-S had it also, and it controlled the remote central locking in addition to the above.

Demister relay should be next to the battery under the black metal casing.

The way this is going, I'm going to have to slap some wiring together.
Back to the drawing board, or should I say the wiring diagram.

Thanks tho.
