There are health and character requirements that you have to satisfy before a visa will be granted.

Certain professions can give you instant Visas, Doctor, etc. The list of needed professions change all the time! Look into it!

The only other way in is to get in as an International student and pass your degree here (expensive, but less so than college in the USA) and then apply for PR/Citizenship once you're finished. I like to call this the long way.

There are hundreds of different classes of visas so look at the above Australian Immigration website and see which categories will work for you.

Worse comes to worse, come for a working holiday and then stay. Like greg said, plenty of places to hide here....
