Post by Alspos »

Guy at worked asked me if these work at all?

I said sure, they'll empty your pockets of $110.

Thoughts?

If they worked, car manufacturers would have them on cars from the factory.

Love the technical drawings on that site... very confidence inspiring.

They do work....google 'vortex generators', they will be a target for theifs looking to make a quick buck though

They tend to work only over 30 or maybe 40km/hr so its up to him if he does a lot of Highway driving. I think it will take atleast a year or so for anyone to recover the cost of that...

......a cheaper alternative would be to just remove weight out of car which costs nothing

The reason behind car manufacturers not bringing them into the market is its elegant design which would make the manufacturers' vehicle look dis-tasteful compared to those bling things :wtf: :P :D
Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D

I'm sure if you own a Ford Anglia with the inwards facing rear window it may be of some benefit at 100. But please.....not like car makers spend millions on wind tunnel testing to get the separation thing happening off bootlids, wagon spoilers etc. and laminar flow over windows.

Oh..make sure all your windows are closed and mirrors folded inwards for maximum efficiency.

Without testing every particular vehicle in a wind tunnel to determine placement etc, it would be pure luck as to whether they would do anything at all.

Not sure if those particular ones would work, but the new evo IX has them and it is meant to increase downforce by a fair amount (from memory only a bit less than the wing)

Evo IX Vortex Generator is ment to be +2kgf@180km (Downforce) Aerodynamic Drag (CD) of -1.1%@180km.
the Rear Spoiler extension does x2 that downforce, just the extention!
so if you want a 1.1% decrease of 'drag' at 180km then i recon get one
I have a car. I use it to drive to work, to drive to work I need petrol, petrol cost money, I must work to make this money… it’s a vicious cycle!

$110 for folded aluminium... Sounds like a bargain to me! It's a pity they couldn't even spend that much on the website :S

Yeah, and those look like bent pieces of aluminium bolted onto the roof.

So when are you putting them on your car?
