Vicroads are fukwits. My newly purchased JA starions VIN is not on their computers, and therefore they cant register it. They want history of the VIN so the last registration number for it. I dont have it. The person i bought the car off doesnt have it.
What now? Does anyone know what i can do? They say i need the last registration number that was on the car, so they can have a history of it. Like i said, i dont have it, and i cant get it, nor can the guy i bought the car off get it.

Where did you buy the car from? Was it not been driven? Check with NXTime, he's our Registry man! :D

The guy i bought it off bought it off someone else WITHOUT registration. The car has not been registered in my possession or his.
What can be done?

can you find out who had it before that?
has it come from interstate?
Give us some more details about the car as maybe someone on here will know something about it.
What's the last 4 digits of the VIN? perhaps you can look through the registry we have on this site and see if it's there

Last 4 digits of VIN is 1292. My VIN is only 16 digits, not 17. Dunno why, just is.
Heres how it goes.
Mr X got the car a few years back unregistered. Mr Y bought it off him around a year ago unregistered, redid the engine etc... and then i bought it off Mr Y. To my knowledge, car hasn't been registered for around 2 years or so, maybe more?
Both Mr X and Mr Y have no idea about the previous registration.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the VIN also stamped either on the block or somewhere on the chassis? I'm sure it's not just on the engine bay plate.

Yeh it is. Its on the chassis too. BUT, vicroads dont care about that, they just keep saying there is no previous history on the car...
What i dont understand is if it was 'stolen' or had 'issues', when vicroads punched in my VIN and it came up without history, it wouldve come up with a red flag. Since it didnt, i dont see why they have to be such pricks and not register my car and waste my time and money.

Import car,Or it must be registerd from another state.
I bought my red car from from bendigo victoria, nsw rta has no records of it.
I just have to get blue slip, purchase reciept, green slip, new plates.I even told them the rego plates, still it wasnt in NSW records.

whats the blue slip, and green slip?
I have a 'receipt' or proof of purchase. The guy i bought it off wrote it out, sayin the VIN, how much he sold it for, and both our names. I'm thinking of going to the police station and getting a statuary declaration saying that i have tried to get the previouso registration but noone knows it. Hopefully that will be sufficient for Vic Roads.
Actually, this is what i want to know, can vicroads still register the car if they wanted to? like, are they just not doing it as a matter of principle? Or can they just not enter a new VIN, like the computers wont let them?

It all seems a bit much to be honest! Go down to your local Vicroads and ask to speak to someone in charge! The people at the counters don't know shit! Explain your situation, what your VIN is and ask for their path of correction! If he doesn't have one, then ask for someone higher! This is what they do, they must know how to fix it!

A blue slip is just like a pink slip,it just gets inspected, also the gut writes the vin number, engine number on it.green slip is tppd insurance.

****UPDATE****
Well, went to VicRoads yesterday in Frankston. They said exaclty the same thing. Cant register it without previous registration number.
So, my last option (fingers crossed it works) is that they said i have to call up customs and get letters of approval from them saying that it has been imported into this country legally.
fuk sake, by the time this is all done, my RWC will be expired and ill need a new one

There is something i remember being told about VIN's and if they can't find it, get them to try searching by engine number...
Have you called Mitsubishi? Surely they must have some records.

Is the car imported or is it an Australian Starion!?
Do you have these two plates:
The important one...
These plates prove that it is an Aussie Starion! I would kick up a serious fuss man!!! This is their problem, not yours! Keep at them! :x
