No idea WHY but your interior has been cut. Those inner panels should curve around the edge of the door. Here are some pics of my late model black interior.

Mine looks the same as spideys. They probably cut it because they couldn't get the interior out properly.

wait, do you both have US spec cars or are they jap spec?

do your seatbelts run along the roof line above the door? (automatic ones) or do they go into the door?

the peice is not cut, which makes it more annoying, cause it looks like there is another bit that either covers it or something that goes in there?

Mine is a European-spec narrow with door belts. Those interior bits are the same on my Japan-spec models as well.

I guess its possible the 88/89 US Starions had some funky retrim design there, but I can't imagine why they would redesign?? hopefully one of the US people can give you a more complete answer to your queries.

I'd also look near the edges of those panels, there will be wear, indents, or holes where the cover clipped over if it exists.

thats the kind of picture i was looking for! thanks rxcorp

now i just need that car to be photographed how i did mine.. maybe the peice i have is bent or something.. but it does have that metal bracket stuck on to it, but mine is facing inwards, which might explain that it is really bent...

thanks again!
