Gizzmo Boost controllers.
Anyone have any experience with Gizzmo Electronic Boost controllers? I've just bought one and there are a few grey areas in the fitting instructions . Particularly , Do you block off the spare hole in the solenoid or leave it open ? The instructions kind of imply that you leave it but Autobarn said to block it off .... :S

If gizzmo say to leave it unblocked then i would leave it unblocked, its possibly a bleed valve release hole or something.
Gizzmo is just down the road from where i live, i had my car tuned by them.
I have a launch control/shift light combo setup that they make.
Send Ray @ gizzmo an email and ask him. sales@gizzmoelectronics.com

Thanx mate. I emailed that Ray dude strait away but haven't gotten an answer . It's frustrating coz I want to fit the bloody thing but I don't want to run the risk of breaking something ! If you're close and it's not too much trouble , any chance you could ask them for me please ?

Leave the hole open or better still pipe it to your air filter (atmospheric pressure air).
Normally open
|
|
\
- \--------------------------Center/switched
|
|
|
normally closed
The normally open connection goes to boost pressure (turb housing, etc.)
The normally closed connection goes to atmospheric pressure (the one you have open now)
the center or switched connection goes to the turbo.
Air typically flows out of the open hole, so it doesn't matter too much really.
In operation it works something like this:
With no power to the valve, the turbo will spool as normal (I.E to 7PSI or so) because boost pressure is routed to the wastegate actuator.
with the power to the valve on 100% of the time, the turbo will spool till something breaks, because the wastegate actuator sees only atmospheric pressure.
Normal operation with a pulsed input b/w 0 & 100% will allow the boost to be controlled by the boost controller to what you ask for, by showing the wastegate actuator something between all and none of the real boost level in the turbo piping...
Hope that helps..

Not sure about the Gizzmo, but the cheapest no frills EBC you can get as far as I know is the Hybrid EBC, I picked mine up for about $300 I think it was, brand new. It comes with its own MAP sensor and solenoid as well as the adjustment unit which goes inside the cabin. No fancy displays, just a high/low switch and two potentiometers. Instructions are clear and its very simple to install. It comes with everything as well, mounting brackets, screws, connector adaptors, t-pieces, proper silicone tubing, and a decent length loom.
They also recommend leaving the third hole on the solenoid unblocked except for twin turbo systems where it says to connect it to the air filter.
Haven't put it in my car yet, and will probably leave it until I get the engine refreshed, she's a getting a little too old for more boost.
