Finally picked up my new engine
I've been slacking on getting my swap going, but I took the bullet and bought an engine set today. it cost me 1708 usd shipped, pretty cheap for a 5 speed set. My 86 tsi will be alive once again pretty soon :beer

Nice. This should give the TSi some extra grunt to move the extra weight. There are a few 1J/2J conversions into Starions over this way. Also, there is one guy who is fitting one into a Mazda MX5 (Miata) with an auto powerglide transmission:

lol, I have no idea how much it weighs exactly, I figure about 150lbs more, but I will check the frieght ticket and see if they put an exact weight on there. I think the transmission weighs at least 35lbs or more than a normal conquest tranny, cant say on the actual engine though,
I:m probably going to cut the firewall and transmission tunnel out and tuck this engine back far enough to where the front of the engine is at the same point as the front of the g54b.

Yeah, it should go good, I have a guy whos been a machinist/engine builder for 40 something years helping me out. Better yet he is a starion/conquest fanatic like me :) He has a shop that is basically 3x3 cars full of all kinds of goodies. About 15 v8s ranging from bb chevys to mopars, kit shelby cobra, 4 65 mustangs, and like 4 conquests lol.
Anyways, he has some welders and a palsma cutter, so it should make the firewall/transmission tunnel modification fairly easy. With any luck I will have her up and going in a month. Right now im undecided on 3 inch 2.75 inch or 2.5inch inlet/outlet intercoolers, and weather to drop 160on a walbro gsl 392, or just drop a lil more and get one of those aeromotive tsunami pumps...
