Odd TC05 compressor housing

Post by AB »

I found this on trademe, it is a TC05 from a Starion but on the compressor housing is something I've never seen before. Does anyone know what it is? The seller isn't sure either, he says it's "some kind of boost control/blow off valve"

He has another TC05 for sale that dosen't have that part on it.

Some came with the bypass-valve, last time it was bought up it was assumed to be a built in plumback blow off valve, although I haven't heard of anybody testing one.

I had the exact same turbo as that on my stazza when I got it, it's a plumb back BOV, which strangely has a contact switch in the top which is activated when the bov vents, switch on mine wasn't connected to anything obviously.

Yes it's a plumb back blow off. They may have used it as an overboost valve as well. Internally plumbed. There was one on my import engine (which I never used).
