HOW DID YOU GET YOUR STARION?

first off this has probly all ready been done but what the heck.
Well mine is a bit of a long story.
Since the age of about 15 I had been saving for a car.
And since I pretty much never worked I relied on birthdays and stuff like that for money.
So the day came when I believed I had enough to get a decent car (just over $2,500 not much but for what I wanted it should have been enough) mind you that was about 2 years ago to the day.
I wanted a 76’ Toyota Celica (love the shape) let me tell you to find one of these that is not rusted to the shit is about as hard as shiting wile standing on your head.
So that dream died, on to the next car. Suzuki Mighty Boy the tiny 3 cly ute, to find one of these for sale within 60km of where I live was what put me off (it wasn’t the lack of performance, wack a 850cc turbo in em’ and tipping the scales at just over 520kg they do ok).
Skip ahead to about a year ago, I started looking at ANY car under $5000, let me tell you I look at a lot of bad cars.
So one day wile I’m at tafe I get a phone call form a dude named Dave, he starts telling me about this car (I forgot I put a query in on the net). So I remember the car and he says I have to come check it out, I say ill be out there Saturday. I wasn’t to keen on it but it was a turbo so I was like what the hell at least I get a test drive.
Come Saturday morning I get a phone call from like my best mate that I haven’t seen in like 6 months, and he want to go check some cars out, I tell him I was just about to leave to check out a Starion, and he’s like WTF is that.
So we get out to the car yard and dead set I fell in love with this car, was runnig low boost and all shit like that but it had potential, $3,500 later its mine. Sold to me without RWC.
So then came the problems of getting a roadie, it only need a rear left strut and the power steering box to be cleaned up.
So after going to 3 different mechanics I was looking at about $500-$600 for a new strut.
Enter dads’ mechanic, who dad had been using for years, who gave me the number of a guy his mate knew that might have one.
So mum calls this guy (I was busy at tafe learning how to make bombs out of sugar), turns out this dude has plenty of them and he’ll give me one for $50.
So I go and pick it up and meet this guy that has saved me nearly $500, turns out it was Flav (who has done a bit to my car, nothing major performance wise, but soon….). So I got my roadie and have been happily driving round in my Starion ever since. It takes all I have to dish out to it including the cold morning drives from East Donnie and Heathmont to West Footscray, and my feble attempts to drift.
Now I don’t believe in fate but there is so many things about this car that just make it seem like it was meant to be mine, like the Rego is on Mums birthday, and plenty of other things like that.
So it took about 2 years and 7 months to get a car but it was so worth it.
