***URGENT**** .:Engine numbers:. ***URGENT***

Post by Glenjo »

We're having trouble reading the engine number on our block and need it for registration purposes.

For example this is what we think we can see, but the hot blonde chick at Vic Roads says the U isn't a U, but see's how it could be easily mistaken as a U.

G63B
63A(U?)****

So it's either a 0 or a V. Can anyone remember if the number starts and continues from there, making it an 0? Or is that position usuall a letter?

*NOTE: appologies if this makes no sense...

I just looked in my owners manual, and theres's a mistake in my engine number

it reads:
4g62/BD5***

so in answer to your question, it's probably a letter, not a number

Mine was
G63B
CA7176

engine is out, so I degreased the plate to read it, polished it up. I think Im missing a number, think there is a 0 in there. At any rate, it was two letters then all numbers. Its a long number to run back in to the house, and remember while writing a post.

From what you wrote, Id say its a V. AV would be a fairly old block. My CA is from 1985.
