was just wondering what kind of times people have pulled in their starions...what mods they have done to acheive it...an horsepower figures....
so far i have pulled a 14.8@92mph, r/t .567
mods are TCO5/TCO6, was running standard boost, cold air, open air box, 2.5 inch turbo back xhaust, forged pistons, intercooler 700x300x56 with 2 inch aluminium piping.

i have pulled 101kw @ wheels
but i have a bad power curve atm power reaches 86kw at wheels at around 70km mark then stops making power. then starts again at around 110km

Sirius 98.5 KW arw 15.9 over the quarter (12psi of boost 3inch from cat back, no cooler yet) you made 14.8 ! thats great i though you
would need 130 to get that figure with the starions high gearing :D

:? hmmm dunno...15.9...what was your reaction time...what rubber was used...how much wheel spin did you get off the line...
the first time i ran it when i had 93kw @ wheels just exhaust an air box, standard boost. and STANDARD WHEELS with SHITTY CRAP TYRES
i kept on getting to much wheels spin..but still managed a 15.6 cant remember the miles think around 88
then went there with my 17s first run busted out a 15 flat not sure about the miles....that was with 93kw....but i had let the car cool down for a long time....an didnt start it until i went through the gates... so everything was cool
then i added the cooler, cold air...pressure droped 3.5 psi soon as the cooler went on...so still more horsepower in her...but i had left the boost stock, didnt let the car cool down just got in there i ran a 14.8@92
your reaction time and the way you get your car off the line plays a big part...

your reaction time is irrelevant, as the 1/4 mile time dosen't start until the car moves. you can sit there for 30 seconds and still do a 14.

Nope, it starts when you (un)break the beams at the start line. However, the reaction time is used to calculate the total time in an elimination/pro drag race, ie, you ET plus your reaction time = total time. Whoever crosses the line first wins, but the ET is calculated from the time you leave the line.
In a Dial Your Own or Bracket form of drag racing, you enter a time that you think your car will run (based on practise and qualifying) and have to run as close to that time as you can without actually beating that time. The car that runs closest to its nominationed time wins (taking into account reaction times also). This system rewards consistency rather than outright quickest times. There usually one second increments for each bracket, so cars can compete in say, 15.00-15.99 and 14.00-14.99 classes.
Confused yet?

i always thought the reaction time was important...ohh well..you can say its not important in winning the race...lol

It is important and will affect who wins the (competitive) race. However, for general street meets, most people are just interested in running a time, so whoever wins that particluar race isn't as relevant as the ET. I have seen plenty of cars sitting at the line getting the rev's right or spooling the auto/transbrake then taking off...some as late as 20 seconds after the green.
Drag competitions is where it all matters. First over the line wins.

Oh, and I have run a best time of 13.9@100MPH with a standard TC06 back in 1999.

NXTIME can i ask what else was done to your motor to get that sort of time. or is it G14 classified...

That engine had forged 7.5:1 pistons, balanced bottom end (sans balance shafts), standard head, standard TC06 (on one bar), custom 400 x 200 x 75mm cooler, Microtech Digi 1 Pro ECU, 3" exhaust, etc.
I can't recall what diff I had in it at the time, but it may have been a locked 3.9. Car had only been street tuned so no idea how much power it had.

NXTIME... does a balanced bottom end make a big difference in the way it revs
does anyone know what could be wrong with my car....my engine stops making power at 86kw...then 1500-2000 rpm later it will start making power again to 101kw...how can this be cured...will i need to get a aftermarket computer to tune it.... :?
