It will only have one of these if u get a carb version, which arent very common i do not believe. Most of hte 84's are EFI (if not all)

depends upon the car, some do some dont. There is an option number to look for that will let u know if u have an LSD or not.

JA Starions ran from 1982 to 1983. JB came out in 1984. Unless you have a very late build JA.

125kw at the flywheel
will the engine have the big frying pan style filter on the top of the engine?
No... starions have ECI injection. They are not carbie.
lsd?
If it's a JA.. no. If it's a JB.. maybe. Have a look.
to5 or to6 turbo?
Most likey a TC06 turbo.. unless it's an import engine. Post some pics.

All starions have 4 wheel disc brakes.

The JA has a scoop on the bonnet and 14" wheels standard! Probably the easiest way to tell what model, but everyone seems to have JA bonnets now...!?

Which beast did you get? Is it the two-tone one from Madeley or Landsdale? if so, I've seen that one, driven it, looked under the bonnet, etc.

I also believe that the JB comes with driving lights where the JA does not
EDIT: no wait...my jb does not have them *hits head*

Check the numbers on the right front strut tower - that will identify what the chassis was originally.
For some reason people have tended to modify Starions over the course of their life and "sometimes" panels, parts etc get swapped from JA/JB/JD series
ps - what colour is the car?
