Dyno tune

Well the car has been on the dyno, but the hub dyno doesnt like my car very much it seems. The company's main dyno is out of action so useing thier old one and its a bit touchy.
Results so far are 104kw atw at 4000rpm with the power graph staring to head up real strong. Full boost should be around 5500rpm roughly.
Now looking for a rolling road dyno place to tune it.
Have entered a drag event on the 24th so the pressure is on.
Will keep yas posted

Give us a list of mods...

Why do you want a roller dyno? I have found the bolt on hub ones to be much more accurate as there is no slip of friction possible, and its safer.

The rolling road dyno might be better to tune on with the high gearing.
I found out they have been trying to tune in 4th gear which will do 240kmh at 7000rpm so i told them to try 3rd gear in case the dyno is having issues with the rapid acceleration when the power starts comming on.
Have to wait till next week now and see what happens.

In 3rd gear acceleration will be more rapid than 4th gear.

The dyno that I have access to is speed limited to 200km/h

err the acceleration is going to be faster in a lower gear. If your having traction issues the only way to fix it is by strapping it down better or having better tyres, i your having speed issues then 3rd gear may work if its calibrated properly but if will be putting more torque down on the dyno.

Can you list your mods???

TOMSUN will list them shortly.

The dyno im useing is a bolt on hub dyno so no worries about traction.
Whats happening is the dyno is surging when the power starts comming on which could be caused by the rapid acceleration due to the high gearing and useing 4th gear. 3rd gear being good for around 180kmh may be a better gear to use due to lower top speed.
Its just a theory we are gonna try and see what happens.

I just hope i can get it tuned next week or i wont be racing it.

Um, something doesnt sound right here, lower gearing will increase your rate of acceleration. That would only add to the problem wouldnt it. The gearing should be as close to 1:1 as possible from all that I have learned.
I reckon, and I have no idea who's dyno it is, but its suss.

I'd be going somehere else. It just doesnt sound right

if you can strap 1500rwhp down on a normal roller dyno then your car shouldnt be a problem

The company who is dynoing the car is good and have dynoed 1000hp+ cars.
trouble is they are using thier old dyno's as the newer ones are away being repaired.
Something is not right though, should handle my car no problem really like you say.
If this company cant tune it i wont be able to race this comming weekend as the other good dyno shops around are all busy.

Fair enough, my comment was more that there seemed something wrong with the dyno itself.

Well i picked up my car from the dyno shop today, the dyno just doesnt like my car. They have sent some info away to the makers of the dyno to see if they can shed any light on the problem.
It seems that the dyno's braking/clutch sytem is grabbing on and off from 3000rpm instead of gradually comming on as the rpms go up, or along those lines.
Other cars they have had on it either side of my car have been fine though which is strange.
Just have to wait for the results to come back from the dyno manufacturers now or try another place.
So no racing for me this weekend...12s will have to wait.

Well i got the car dynoed today.
Had an issue with the wastegate spring being too soft or old so couldn't run the boost i wanted to but got a promising figure.
212.6kw ATW at 14.6psi boost and 129.2Kg/m of torque.
So will have to get the wastegate rebuilt with stronger spring and turn the boost up some more.
Probably wont worry about it till after christmas now though, just get used to the new setup for now.

Pretty impressive numbers! Can you post the dyno sheet?
