Demonstration of my new server

Post by fr335tyl3r »

Hey guys,

This is mainly a university project but I am just posting it up here to get your thoughts. It looks quite ugly at the moment as all the backend is mainly finished but the front end hasnt been completed so its all raw html basically.

The system is being made with a used car company in mind, but fields have been taken away as I havent got prices for cars etc, so it is currently being used as a host for the registry (i just grabbed details from peoples posts).

The system is made so that users can view cars that are available both when they are at the car yard, find out details bout cars and look at some pictures, and also at home exactly in the same way. It is going to have the webinterface (its uses a coldfusion backend and an sql database) and also a java program that can be run kiosk style at the actual car dealership.

The only functionality that hasnt been fully integrated (you guys cant get to it yet) is adding home user access so that you can be added to a mailing list and emailed weekly when changes are made to the system, and it will also allow customers to place expressions of interest or offers on cars that are available.

From the business point of view, the staff will be able to look up profit marggins on the cars they have sold, how much certain models have sold for in the past, make reports as to average prices of certain makes and models of cars, as well as how long cars were in the lot before they sold, all useful information when trying to figure out what sort of car to keep in the lot to maximise profits.

Have a look, as i said it doesnt have much in terms of the info i outlined above that you guys can really see cause you need the admin login page and user ID and stuff...so i can do that :D but unfortunettly that would give u access to the entire website and let u delete and change scripts so i cnat have u doing that now can i :D

Have a look, let me know

The idea sounds good, can't see much though :D
I'm guessing make and model are stored seperately in the back end?
JA seems to be a popular colour

lol yeh as u can see the headers arent quite right cause its not designed to hold our registry infromation and i didnt wanna change all the queries aroudn to suit.

Once i get it fully completed (should be by tommorrow evening) I'll let you guys have access to the other pages as well and you can create a user and get emailed things etc etc

lol yeh its ok...not much to see at the moment, but if you guys want I could keep all the starions up there in a different section with pics :D

Anyone interested if i modified the code a little and made it like a section where you could fill in information about your cars and upload pics etc? So we could have like a nice evolving car database, and ude all have ure own logins so you could manage your own profile.
