have been, out of it for now, I do a bit of work on the side tho'. there were a lot of wankers coming into the industry mid 90's, what with all the add campaigns drawing people in, so. very few true hackers remain.. :(

i guess it does remind me of crappy sci fi movies. Maybe if you put rockets on the back and some wings on it could be in star wars..

i voted yes - i don't currently work in an IT field, but i'm final year in a computer science course

I work in IT, have done so for years, but am finding it painfully boring now.

Would be nice if I was good at other stuff, so I could change career :S

I've just finished Science and Commerce degrees, both with computery flavoured majors. I didn't spend that time/money NOT to work with computers!

IT/web programming and design did compsci :)

i wouldn't be too suprised at this trend as it's more likely for people from our background to frequent forums etc more often.

that said i spend some of my working day browsing ove the site hehehehe

good thing about forums is you can get away with saying your researching developer forums ;)

I was a partner in a specialised software development company 4 years ago as the sales/marketing/development/crash test dummy part.

Got out when one of the other directors decided to screw me over by demanding I learn to write code. So I gave them code for "go fuck yourselves" .

They bought me out for $50K and sold the business 18 months later for $2.3M on the same product platform and customer base as what I built for them. Now there's a new definition for "bastards".

Still friends with one of them, not the other because he said it 'wasnt personal, it was business. " At $2.3M I took it personally.

So thats my computer experience.
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
