For some time now my turbo has been effed! Blowing smoke, losing power and gradually dying!
A certain blue furry one was aware of the problem and whilst pretending to go about his daily business (trawling ebay instead of working) he discovered a TD05 Big 16G turbo compressor, core and exhaust wheel available in the states for a paltry sum. (No exhaust housing though.)
This is the turbo used on the original WRX.
"It'll bolt straight on" came the cry. "Go on man" "It won't be a problem!"
So knowing the blue furry one to be all knowledgable I forked out my hard earned and purchased the aforementioned device!
It was packaged by the guy in the states in an orange box and marked as junk car parts sample and was promptly confiscated and repacked by customs.
When it eventually turned up at work the exhaust wheel was damaged and looked like it had been dropped or banged hard. The vanes were all bent! So no use there.
"WTF am I to do" I said to the blue furry one!
"Precision Turbos in Wetherill Park" came the cry. "Go on man. It won't be a problem!"
So the turbo goes to Precsion Turbos. Who found a new exhaust wheel for a sum fitted it and rebalanced it and sent it back!
"Great" says I but why is the outlet to the IC piping oval instead of round like on my TC06?
"Ah" says the blue furry one. "You might need to do some mods to the pipework but It will bolt straight on!"
"Go on man!" came the cry "It won't be a problem"
So off we go to Cromer Exhausts...............
