While I'm all for death destruction and mayhem at times, I'd have to say; please don't hack your Staz up. You might not think so now, but I'd bet you'd regret it if you did!
I know exactly how you feel. If I sit down and think about how much money I have poured into my JA, or how much time out of the time that I've owned it, that it wasn't able to be driven, I'd probably cry.
My philosophy is simple; don't let it beat you! Also, consider the alternatives to owning a Starion...
CORDIA - Same age and same probs really
SCORPION - gotta love 'em! (I owned a GH) see Cordia
CELICA - if it's the same age it's a try hard Starion. If it's older, you may have to pour some money into it anyway, and suffer the same sort of heartaches!
SILVIA/180SX - nice car, but they are everywhere. They cost a lot more to buy than a Starion too.
SUPRA - see Celica, otherwise they are too expensive. Nice though!
RX-7 - which one? how much? old ones are very iffy!
929 coupe - nice, but slow. Very expensive to fix too! Especially the ridiculous electronic suspension! OUCH!!!!
GAZELLE- mundane, but go alright. Good luck finding parts though!
VORTEX - weird, but cool. Cheap enough to buy, and if you get a 4WD turbo, they go alright too. Vastly unknown car though, and parts are a problem.
300ZX - slow, even with a turbo, but rather nice. Targa roof tends to leak with age though. The last shape was by far the nicest, and fastest. Not anywhere the Starion price bracket though.
280ZX - slow, and big! You can get them to go nicely, but you'll need a malleable bank manager.
260Z - expensive to buy, but definitely very nice. These either look like they've been dug up, or someone else has done all of the hard work, and is hoping to recoup their losses.
SOARER - nice toys, but the newer one is better, if you can handle the price tag!
There are more cars to consider, but these are probably the closest Starion price/value equivalents.
Of course, everyone has their own opinion, and I will, no doubt, be disagreed with. However, those who know me, and have met me know that I speak from experience, or I don't say a word. I have driven all of the above cars, alot, and have known someone who has owned at least one of them.
In short, I still own a Starion after 7 1/2 years, because I still see the potential. I also like to be different, as I suspect alot of you do too
Cam,
always know that help is just a message away! That's why we're all here!
