I guess it's not to hard for a decent car to beat the time of a car that has an engine that came from the time of the dinosaurs...
On a side note... now that Holden is heading overseas does that mean that the V8 supercars is only going to be Ford? Isn't V8 supercars ment to be an all aussie designed/built affair?

Do you know why they chose the Gallardo over the Murcielago? I'm assuming it's either something to do with the rules or the price difference?OLD FART wrote:Great times for road cars that probably cost as much as a supercar.
Lambo driver Dave Russell is one of my driver training workmates.

Maybe a revival of the supercars of the 80's? Sierra Cosworth, GTR's, Starions, BMW's etc? That would be awesome!

V8 stupidcars is bringing in the "car of the future" regs in 2013 which will open it all up to new manufacturers. None have yet come forward though, as it's basically a nascar that can turn right.. Lol..

the eastern creek v8 supercar record was broken by one or more of the evos in the first couple of laps of superlap last year.. and this year they were a tad quicker again..

But to be honest, the wtac cars should be lapping a hell of alot quicker than the v8 sc's, considering the lack of regulations.

Somehow a full grid of Sang Yongs, Tata's, & Great Walls doesn't seem to excite me at all.
I really don't care whats underneath, so long as they have a V8 thats loud, & the body shape resembles something from Holden or Ford. With proper racing (ie - no team orders) with pushing & rubbing & the occasional spin, makes it all very entertaining. After all, isn't that what motor racing is meant to be, ENTERTAINMENT for those that can't get behind the wheel.
PS : Heading to Melbourne tonight for 3 days at Sandown Raceway :D :D :D as a flag marshall.

the wtac cars have to run on road legal semi slicks.. i believe this would pose a significant disadvantage to full slicks?
