Calling all Melbournites

Hey all!
Thinking about moving back to Melbourne. I used to live in St Kilda and loved it there. Looking into rental properties over there at the moment.
Anyone have any suggestions about which rental companies are better then the others? I used to go through one in St Kilda but I can't find the company. Don't have to live in St Kilda, but a reasonably nice area would be good, somewhere near trams or trains.
Would prefer fully furnished for starters, and if possible will take dogs.

Also can anyone point me to or give me a 101 on dog rego over there?

Almost had it up to my eyeballs with NZ and the way it's heading at the moment, just really want a new start (again).

You should also seriously consider regional vic like Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat.

Rental prices are HALF of melb, and there's fast trains from our cbd's to melb cbd that take an hour flat from any of the three listed. So if you goto work in the cbd or whatnot, plus you have better access to country roads ;)

And cleaner air.

Thanks for the PM Panda :)

I thought about living outside the main kinda city area.
If I can live near enough to the city I won't bother with a car. I lived in St Kilda for a year last time and never once had a car, didn't really need it to be honest. Just pushbiked everywhere and used the trams.

Been to Geelong, not ballarat or Bendigo, although they're a fair way out? I want to live in a decent area as well...

haha, there's decent and bad areas to every city mate.

and if by a fair way you mean an hour then ok :)

But if you wanna live inner city look at docklands etc, it's practically next to the cbd in melb.

I don't live in melb so i can't give you an informed opinion but it takes me less time to get from ballarat to the cbd than it does for someone who lives in like pakenham or caroline spings etc after the ridiculous amount of traffic.

Docklands is nice, well the part they did up anyways.
An hours travel is a long way (well for me).

It's all new @ the Docklands and more up market without the stupid druggies hanging in the back streets at night.

Ellwood is just down the road from St.K. and not too bad.

Ballarat is way too cold and I'm really sorry for this but..the girls are so ugly and fat. I used to love the Kryal raves tho.
