Awesomeness of the BB turbo.

Post by vr4gone »

Finally finished installing my R33 skyline turbo today.
How does 4psi @ 1900rpm in 4th WOT!! These things are bloody amazing.
My full 3 inch helps for sure and it's not as loud as I was previously forewarned, see http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=13793
Also gotta love that howl and dose too. :D

is it a ceramic wheel turbo like most skyline turbos are? if so don't run too much boost though them, they love to break.

yeah it would be, being a 33 turbo, no more than 12 psi, they do fail at stock boost too though
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Ok, I didn't mean to sound like a novice about these turbos. I've just never had one on a Mitsubishi before. I had one on my Z18 years ago. I'll clear up one myth though, Nissan never had ceramic turbine wheels in their turbos. They are, in fact, an austenitic nickel-chromium based alloy called inconel.

The turbo I'm running is actually a VG30 which is a little bigger than an R33 and it has the alloy comp wheel not the nylon. As for boost, I'm running 10psi which is good enough for me.

are you running it with the standard throttle body injection? how does it run compared to a standard tc06-11a?

Yep, I'm running it with the standard TBI but my injectors aren't standard. I couldn't say how it is compared to the tc06-11a because my starion never had one of those turbos when I brought it.

these are the injectors I'm running.

If it is off a VG30 then it has a steel exh. wheel and a slightly bigger rear housing than the R33, RB25. That is on old upgrade for the RB25 turbo, keep the front side and put a VG30 rear on it to get the steel wheel so you can run higher boost.

AXELR8 ran a VG30 on his VR4 powered JA...
