Starion GSR-? Brochure from Japan

Post by JDSTAZ45 »

I picked up a 1984 brochure from Japan and it's interesting that the Dash motor was available in that period

So, in other words you could pick up a Dash powered GSR-V with a JB look and a JA scooped bonnet back in 1984/85.
Now why didn't Australia get this set up instead of a detuned JD model?? Crap fuel I guess...
The different options available obviously determine which GSR model it is. The climate control was available back then...
No mention of a GSR-IV!!

Here's a couple of pics of the brochure..

What is 200PS? and what is that in HP or KW??

200ps is close to hp, about 198hp i think.

one does have to wonder what mitsu was thinking with the specs of the starion, particuarly with the engine equipment they had in the last half of the 80s they could of made something a little more potent,

:o Look at that gauge cluster with all of the fancy electronics!

There seems to be no logical model order for these cars, and they seem to be a mixed bag of parts.
I wonder if you went back in time and asked for a 2 identical Starions, whether you'd actually get 2 identical cars..?

It's because it can switch between 3 or 2 valves per cylinder being used - kind of like VTEC/MIVEC switching between two different cam profiles, instead the DASH head closes one valve under 2500rpm to promote good flow and turbulence of the air/fuel mix.

It does explain why redzone has a scooped bonnet with the timing sticker relating to the dash engine.

Any chance you could scan a good copy and send it ???? ,, I've got an 84 GSR-V with and dash motor and a mate has an 87 ,,, and mine is white ,,, and it has the anolog not that sci fi digital dash :)

also had (a long time ago) and copy of the micro fish from misty NZ on how to "correctly" strip and assemble the DASH overhead gear, might be able to find it if any body wants

also --- if anyone has one of these motors and wants a cam grind for it ,, Peter Kennard at kelford Cams in chch has all the specs for a very nice grind
