I thought they just had GSR, GSR-II and GSR-III for the 1982 to 1984 model years depending on what spec they were, then GSR-V for 1985 onwards DASH models and then GSR-VR for the widebodies. I can't recall any documentation for a GSR-IV Starion?

Well, it helped me anyway. Never wasted if you help someone along the way. I have a GSR3 which no longer has the electric mirrors, though it had provision for them (the centre console panel had the switch in it).

And the second bottom line on the chart was a scream. Worth it just for that!
LOL LOL

According to my brother in law (I haven't seen the car yet) its an 83, with ABS and looks like it was intercooled.
Im going out to his place in the weekend to have a look. Ill take some pics while Im out there.

Very odd tho, that its got ABS. Thought ABS was an EX (March 1985) on wards thing???

Thanks for the spec sheet MrBishi. Very cool.

ABS must of came out earlier than 85,As my EX starion had it (Before I binned it all)first registered July 15th 1983.
according to Mitsubishi Motors N.Z
the 33rd Starion imported in N.Z new

I thought EX Starions were built here until Dirty Galant kindly informed me that they were all imported :o

Probably another mystery when it comes to Starion's(And fixing them) LOL

I've got an 1983 US brochure (JA equivalent) showing the ABS listed on it.
Not sure if it was an option.
What's interesting is that all the material I've read, the intercooled Starion came out midway thru 1985...ie., shown as 85.5!

Ive had a few 83 and 84 starions that have been intercooled. Early injection manifold type.

I have a early 83 EX with ABS..
And I had a 82 EX that also had ABS.

I've yet to see a Starion without ABS here in Europe.

This would have been instrumental in proving the GX was real to the naysayers.

But now it will be my guide for all things GX...

yep going a lil off topic here but only a set of cars were locally assembled here, things like the Mirage/Lancer series, Galant/Sigmas, L200 utes, L300 vans, Cordias and Tredias - the upper spec and obscure stuff was imported in, ie the Sapporos, Starions and GTOs were euro-spec originally destined for the UK but were shipped to NZ instead. The 2.6 Sigma wagons, Magna sedans and wagons and 2nd gen V3000/Diamante came in from Australia, and from the mid-90s the L200/Tritons came in from Thailand. After Todd Motors shut down completely in 1998, all NZ-new Mitsubishis were imported in from all over the show - Japan, Netherlands, Thailand, Australia etc.

It's interesting to know the Starion was only ever assembled in Japan, even the Australia JA/JB/JD Starions came in from Japan.

Well Ive been out and had a look at this odd starion.....
Its a little rusty but not the worst Ive seen.

Its got ABS, push button heater controls, ariel in the back, no key lock for the petrol flap, intercooled (but long gone) 4 stud wheels but no cruise control, and is two tone. Most of the JDM stuff here is all one colour....

OK, so intercooled Starions have been around before 85/86!!! The proof is in the sale of a GSR-?? on Yahoo at the moment
with intercooling shown with the old injection system!!! It annoys me that this I/C could have been an option at the time.
Mitsubishi (in Aust. at least) introduce their models in strange ways....????

It does mention that the car is some 'developement' model ?

Or direct, untranslated..

Very cheap for Starion enthusiasts!! Around $500 plus shipping and import costs. There should be no GST on this one if under $1K!!
Basically, a Series II JA with tan interior but with JB seats and factory I/Cooling. It doesn't appear to have the LSD???
