Lowest Starion EVAR11!!

Post by Komeuppance »

Ha, so I finally done did it. Was as easy as I thought, but took longer than expected.

Image
MR2 Tokico Illuminas... not a bad way to spend a couple hundred.

Image
Cut right through the stock spring perch. Measuring for the next cut.

Image
Cut down and ready to be welded. Compared next to the original height.

Image
Mmmmm... arc welder.

Image
Excellent fit!!

Image
Add in some ultra strong DOM tubing for strengthening, and a spring perch(sleeve perch... haha)

Image
Finished vs Stock

Image
Don't be jealous...

In that pic it's resting on the inner fender liner, so I might be able to go lower if I cut it and move the fender liner up more. Just a quick pic I took at 3am... I will try the rear 8's on the front tmr and get some better pics. I will definitely be able to go lower if I didn't have the MK1 camber plates on the front... but then my camber would uber mega jacked... haha...

I need to do the rears.

LOL... lowest?? Maybe. I took out the fender liners to mod them up. I also rolled the fenders, kinda went a bit crazy with it... not sure if I like it, I miss being Herra Frush... but I like being Slammy McSlammerson better, I don't miss all that rubbing though... ha. I put the rear 8's(205/55's) back on, DAMN look at that clearance.

Image
Less clearance than a $100 bill.

Image
Miles and miles of smiles.

Image
Rims spinnin'... girlies grinnin'

Image
Seriously.

I raised it bout half an inch (12mm mates) because I tried backing out the drive, and I got mega stuck. Friend had to push me back up.

Yeah... I found some new fenders, besides the spares I have.

looks like the front fenders only modded because of using 'rear' wheels up front ?
So 'front' 7s or 8s won't rub then ?
Are those illuminas for the SW20 2nd gen MR2... front or rear inserts ?
What coilovers ?
How does it ride ?
Looks way cool to me

Yep, only way for me to drive that low is to have modded fenders, even with a 7" +18 offset wheel. I "overmodded" them on accident with a fancy fender roller... steeringwheel wasn't locked and it "flared" a small portion... so I had to continue. Such a shame. I've got new fenders lined up to do it right.

SW20 rear inserts part number BZ3126 with Starion KYB gland nuts (M50 x 1.5mm) Coilovers are MK1 (Mookeh) units, discontinued. Unsure of the spring rate, but they're a tad on the soft side which is excellent for daily driving.

Body roll is pretty non existent as the struts are set to max (5). I haven't tried them on any other settings... I don't think I need to. Most roads are fairly taken care of here in Oregon... but there are the crappy ones, and you can definitely tell.

My wife likes the ride... so... that must mean they're golden. LOL... she also calls my car "cute"... she knows I hate that.

And the rims are bronze!!
