So does anyone know who now owns this, or if it's even still in existence?

Damn thats a clean car. Take the sunroof off, and lemme put some wheels on it, and a lot of suspension and it would be perfect :)

interesting looking intake behind the chin of the car..

and who said 5-spoke rims don't suit starions again?

Some trivia for you.
The "033 J" number plate is South Australian. They were a limited release known as "Jubilee plates", released in 1986 to celebrate the 150th jubilee of South Australia.
All plates have a "J" suffix. About 5000 were released, I think, so this is a very early plate.

so you're saying the plates themselves are probably worth as much as the car? :P

somebody needs to make a decent maintream-market movie with a starion.. pull up their value a bit..

seriously, people pay upwards of 8k for rusty examples of ae86s.. and not even the truenos.. why? just because it's in a cult movie.. starion looks better.. goes better.. it is THE sports car of the 80s if you ask me..

the ae86 has been a cult car before any initial d movie was made
y do you think they put it in the movie?

and you may think the starion looks better but most people would pick a ae86 over a starion anyday

id only ever own a widebody tbh but would have an ae86 anyday
shoot me rofl

oh don't get me wrong.. i LOVE the ae86s.. 4age motors just sound so amazing

just that.. they're not THAT special really.. they don't feel that fun to drive.. although i guess i've never had one sideways

i suppose they were made famous by keiichi tsuchiya?

my apologies.. getting verrry off topic

The ae86 popularity early was mainly with drivers as it had its own one make series. Its popularity only really exploded when the manga and anime was released.

TBH Gemini > AE86 for me. i can do just as rude things in a jap spec twin cam gem as i can in a jap spec AE86, and the gem looks a lot nicer :beer

back on topic, we should have a "where are they now" thread for old starion magazine cars. the only one we really know about is the vertical two tone silver-blue JA that khan ended up with... other than kit of course.

but there's that other maroon JA that had borbet's on it, was featured in fast fours, mid 90's.

the side skirts and pillar vents live on! two massive cracks of rust through the roof and interior was gutted when it was sold to me. I'd like to know who owned it before me though.

I assume you're referring to your 2 tone car, not the car in the magazine..?
