Got 3 runs in, best was a 58. There was another Starion there also - Brett Forbes - who did a 55 on slicks.

I was still having a bit of an issue with the front brakes not biting hard as they should but nevertheless the day was a lot of fun which is what its all about anyway.

OP is such a great circuit - where men are men and others die trying LOL

Its seems such a simple little track but man its got some interesting bits. :o

Now I have the long Circuit event on the June long weekend and I think thats about it before they close the track at the end of the year.

the v8 supercars are moving to olympic park eh? are they doing a couple of final seasons at oran park? if not, that would add to the reason of it closing i would think?

Oran Park will be closed pernmanently at the end of this year.

Rumour has it the guy/family who owned it have already aquired land in the Picton/Bargo district with the intention of building another club/state level circuit.

There is also a rumour doing the rounds atm the same family is seriously looking at a track north of Sydney around the central coast area. Would be nice to have another (or two) tracks to go play on.

I just hope they have character like the old Amaroo and OP.

Ricethief, I am running Dunlop semi slicks. Brett is a very good peddler, check out MRB's post on the Group E Winton 300 all those years ago. Brett came 4th behind MRB's car, Bartlett and Fitzgerald. :o

what's the point of closing down a track and opening another one? wouldn't it be cheaper to just keep the oran park circuit? is the value of that land THAT high that it works out better to sell it?

Yes, there would be a huge difference in price, especially when the council rezones rural land into sub-dividable housing-size lots ;) Otherwise they would simply have no reason to do what they are doing.
