I believe the white one is genuine and the yellow one is a mockup?

yes i'd believe the yellow one to be jackie from special stage, hence being a rebuilt mock up.

white on i don't believe is real, has 5 studs, original group a rally starion car had 4 studs.

nope thats the genuine hong kong to beijing yellow one, that the "jackie" car from special stage was copied off. jackie was a GSR-V, this one is a ridgy didge group B car, its in the mitsubishi museum in japan. mrbishi has pics from when he went there, they're on this site somewhere.

the white one is also a GSR-V, it has the same kit that the "jackie" car has. i think it may be owned by mitsubishi japan as it seems to show up whenever that hong kong-beijing car does..

both of those cars had the dealer fitted group B replica body kit, which cost as much as the car itself!!

anyone notice the b-pillar vents on yellow? groovy..

and i don't think the rear hatch is as weak as everyone makes it out to be... if yellow can support a wing like that (and it doesn't look like the hatch has been reinforced, and it's not sealed or anything, as the spare is there), then it can definately support an average fibreglass spoiler methinks

perhaps not the generic ricer T wings.. those things create more drag than downforce.. but something about, say 5 inches off the hatch face?

I saw the yellow one 2-3 years ago in the Mitsubishi museum in Nagoya. Unfortunately the only pics that turned out OK were when I used the flash on the underside of the front end.
I do remember opening the door (no-one was around  ) and being amazed at how light it was. Carbon fibre or fibreglass or some whiz bang material.

That whizz bang material was probably unobtabium, they experimented with it a lot in the early eighties but turned out too hard to obtain in any great quantity.

The yellow one is the real deal. I was at Rally Hokkaido working with Ralliart a few years back and had a chance to look over the yellow one. I happened to be with one of the Ralliart engineers who was actually part of the Starion 4WD project and he gave me a run down on it. I even have a few under bonnet pics and a few of me sitting in it. Pretty agricultural compared to what we do now days but an innovative step forward in its time.

Yes, they are the ones. There may even be a few more kicking around. I will have to dig through my photo's. I also have a few others from Japan, an EX2000 Lancer driven by Pentti Airikkala in the 1000 lakes rally, an LA Lancer of Joginder Singh from the East African Safari, Makinen's EVO V Gp "A" car from Monte Carlo, Alistair Mc Crae's WRC EVO VII, Kenjiro Shinozuka's VR4 from 1992 Ivory coast rally and Taguchi's GP A EVO V. I am happy to put a few more up if you want to see them.
