Hello

I have a question that hopefylly someone will be able to help me with.

I currently live in Geelong and have a Mitsubishi Pajero 2.6L which has the same 2.6L 4G54 engine as the Starion has, and what i am planning on doing is turbocharging it with a stock Starion turbo. What i need is a complete stock turbo kit for a Starion, including manifolds etc. ATM i am just looking arround where i can get a kit from and costing.

Also i know that the 2.6L Starion turbo wasn't sold in Australia

Thanks
Luis

so it's pretty obvious you would have to get in a 2.6 exhaust manifold and turbo from the states from a 2.6 Starion turbo - you could either run a Magna MPI manifold or again get in a TBI 2.6 inlet manifold from the states too.

Once you have your manifolds your engine will still have a higher compression ratio, a cam designed for a non turbo engine etc..

Honestly the 2.6 is a dog of a motor, you can get just as good power if not more from a 2.0L 4G63.

I doubt you'll find a kit to do what you want. You could source an exhaust mani from the US...or price getting one made here. They're heavy suckers, so don't forget postage.

Inlet side, grab a magna inlet and mod to suit. Should bolt straight on. Grab the fuel rail and FP regulator as well.

Turbo...a stock AU staz one would work and just run up to stock boost...should be great, not like the motor has 11-1 compression or anything.

Then aftermarket computer to run the show and get a good tune. Should wake the engine up and hopefully if it's tuned right and you don't belt it, should help the Paj get along alright.

Just a side note, a Sigma Turbo manifold will bolt up. They are the same as the Pajero and Starion 2.6 Litre... If you were able to wait a few months, my engine comes out soon with a custom manifold which suits a evo style (starion as well) Turbo. Just incase your interested... But cheapest way is to source the manifold from the states or locally. :beer

Thanks, like i said atm i am just looking for cosing and what are my options. If you want to PM me about how much you are willing to charge for the manifold it will be great,

Thanks

several turbo 2.6 Pajero and truck conversions found on http://www.starquestclub.com
I recall a MPI/turbo montero conversion done in a day or two.

having owned both 2 & 2.6L sohc starions over the years, I don't see from where that 'myth' would originate.

Heavy u.s. spec widebody full street 2.6L cars have touched mid-low 11sec 1/4 ETs.
Pound for pound, mod for mod... even 2L dohc 4g63 conversions have not equaled them.
I'd really like to see a 2L sohc (in same wt. hull) outpace the "dog".
The 2.6 has proven very capable performers for many.
The additional torque from the bigger displacement should only contribute to a more entertaining ute imo.

Haha... we got tons of manifolds.

Not too many swaps into trucks/pajeros... a few, but not as many as there SHOULD be.

The fast full weight street Starion w/2.6 had upgraded to MPI, I believe. "EIP Cannon intake"

Oh yeah, look up Sakura Motorsports. Broke the world record years ago, with a g54b (2.6).

I got a quote from www.oandjperformance.com for a exaust manifold from the US for $750 and $75 postage. What do you think?

Look for a Sigma turbo exhaust manifold. They are by far the best off-the-shelf design and can be had for far far less than $800odd.
They use the TO3 turbo pattern and external gate, but are getting fairly old now.

What horsepower are you aiming for? Don't go too silly otherwise you will say goodbye to gearboxes on a very regular basis. I thought 5th was fragile in the stock N/A Pajeros?

the only way you will find a 2.6 starion exhaust manifold is to get one from an american..
