Post by silo »

Time to buy an ECU for the staz and at this point its between,

EMS- Stinger4420
Haltech- E6X series
Microtech- LT-10s

The EMS looks pretty good for the money so far!

What do yous reckon?

I have always been a sucker for a Haltech but i think all the ecu's here will be more than capable of looking after your needs. Don't forget about who is tuning it as some tuners like a certain brand more than others.

Haltech all the way. From what a lot of mates say, Microtech is more of a Rotary designed EMS. Which I think has changed over the years. Its simple, find out exactly what you NEED, and find the computer which will service those needs.

the one that best suits your needs would be best ....

microtech , great for track/drag , cheap add ons ..

haltec , closest to motec and simmallar to tune ..

ems ??????, find some body that wants to tune it , and i mean a good tuner..

all the units you chose are fairly old so there will be alot of knoledge out there
old skool jap ...........
there is no substitute...........

stinger is cheaper than haltech but doesnt have as many functions..

microtech i steer clear of as almost everyone i know thats had one has had reliability issues with them....

E6X if u can aford it, they're a great thing.

stinger is a great thing for the money........

EMS

Post by tri26t »

I`LL go the EMS cause they are IDIOT proof.
as long as they are Dual sport -to-8860 model
but theres not a great deal of diff between them all
A few more AUX`s on some makes but if you were
to use them all, you would have a fully race-track- only
car.
The question would really be (WHATS YOUR FAVORITE)
You know you dont need :
..anti lag
..stagged injectors
..launch control
..traction control
..wheel speed
..NOS driver
..Tacho drive

The amount of input outputs that are used on the average
streeter are few, the average bang for buck for me is the 4424 V9
Wolf V 4 or 5, e6k-e6x, or $1200 to $1700
they are IMO "ALL FU-KIN GOOD"

I got an EMS 8860 done some basic tuning with it and it's easy enough to set up.

I must say that in the past that have given me good support. Phone and when I have visited them.

What prices are they currently?

And does that include everything or do you need to buy cables, software, external ignitors etc. separate?

got a reply back from microtech...

Hi there Silas
I would recommend you use the LT10s ECu with X4 box & 4x individual coil
packs
Running the VR4 head you will obviously be using the VR4 crank sensor which
will allow you to do this
We sell a package deal with the ECu,Loom,X4 igniter box & 4 coils for $1295
Aus delivered to your door
If you have any other questions or need me to organise one for you just let
me know
Regards
Jon

Price is hard to beat!!
